Vlad The Invader and The Ayatollah.. Content Warning.
As the war between the IRI, or Islamic Republic of Iran and Israel hots up, which way will Russia jump? Many would automatically think that Putin would throw his weight behind the land of the ayatollahs. The relationship between Russia and Iran is close, and pacts have been signed on many issues affecting both countries. Iran has supplied drones and missiles to help Russia in its struggle with Ukraine. Russia has provided military tech to Iran.

Trump Vetoes Ayatollah Assassination.. Content Warning.
Donald Trump told Netanyahu straight about killing the Supreme Leader of Iran. Israel, in its first raid on Iran, bumped off leaders of Iran's military and Revolutionary Guard. Israel has always killed enemy leaders. More often, the group or country replaces that fallen leader with another. Israel took out the Secretary General of Hezbollah and killed many of the group's top leaders. The fighting between Hezbollah and Israel has stopped, more or less. Hezbollah today is headed by Naim Qaim (forgive me if I got his name wrong). The group is still around, but it has been weakened by conflict with Israel. The group is considering whether it should respond to Israeli attacks on Iran. Given Hezbollah's tenuous situation, the Iran- backed group might sit this out. Hamas has been reduced to a shadow of its former self in Gaza, Israel taking out its top men. However, the group is still resisting the IDF despite all the munitions Israel has dumped on Gaza. Only the Houthis, who have been pounded by the US recently and even by Israel, remain in the game. The US and the Houthis agreed to a ceasefire, provided the group did not shoot at ships in the Red Sea. However, the Houthis are still free to fire missiles and drones at Israel.

Israel Strikes Iran!
Israel has struck 100 targets overnight. Hitting targets, including military sites, nuclear sites, with top Iranian commanders and personnel dead. Marco Rubio, Secretary of State, said the US had nothing to do with it. He stated that the operation was Israel acting on its own. However, the Iranian Foreign Minister wasn't so sure. He poured scorn on the idea that it is just Israel acting on its own. The question is, could Israel conduct such an operation on its own? Israel has bombed Iranian targets before, when it attacked selected targets across Iran after Iran launched missiles and drones at Israel. Back in 1981, Iran attacked Iraq's nuclear site in Baghdad. So, certainly Israel can hit targets beyond its border. It has bombed the Houthis in response to their attacks on its territory. How much the US aids or does not aid Israel in such attacks is open to question.

Historians often say that Harald Hardrada was the last Viking to invade England. And, I can understand why many historians regard this mighty Viking warrior as the last Viking in the truest sense of the word. However, the situation in 1066 is more nuanced than that.

Whatever, Ms. Thunberg has focused attention on our planet, whether it be climate change, the extinction of species, etc. Now, the Swede's latest enterprise is solidarity with the suffering of Gaza.

Pride Month: What's the Point?. Content Warning.
Everyone is wishing everyone "Happy Pride Month" this June. So you'll be asking, "What's wrong with that"? Well, for me, there is much wrong with it. The LGBTQ community have much to celebrate. They have same sex marriage, they can adopt kids or have kids through surrogate mothers, they are equal members of society, they can drive, work, go to college/uni, embrace faith, so what else do they want?

Starmer: The Warfare State.
Clement Attlee, in 1945, after winning the general election, introduced the welfare state. This safety net helped those out of work or looking for a job. People, though appreciative of Winston Churchill, whose rousing speeches got us through the war, wanted something different. Many demobbed soldiers and people in general liked the idea of a welfare state and a free NHS. So, they voted en masse for Attlee, whose government did bring in what they promised. And the NHS and welfare state still exist, though if Attlee could see it today, he might be horrified and dismayed at what it has become.

Dominic Cummings: "Tories Dead and Badenoch a Goner".
Many thought that when Boris Johnson hired Dominic Cummings as his adviser, it was a match made in heaven. Some saw it back to the Alistair Campbell days when Mr. Campbell was Tony Blair's adviser. Campbell was a Svengali figure in Blair's cabinet. Cummings was a Svengali figure and some said the power behind Johnson's throne. Cummings was brought- down by his journey to Durham during COVID and the ensuing lockdown. After Cummings was gone, the writing was on the wall for Johnson and his downfall.

Angela Rayner: Never!
The Deputy Labour Leader has seen it all. She lived on benefits, in a council house, and was a single mother. So, unlike other career MPs, Ms. Rayner has lived a life most of us can recognise. So Angela can understand what it is to struggle when you are at the bottom of the pile, so to speak.

Sir Keir: Tories Are A Busted Flush.. Content Warning.
Sir Keir Starmer came down hard on Kemi Badenoch's Tory Party. Sir Keir aimed his fire at Ms. Badenoch. Saying that the Tory Party was a "busted flush". They had received a good bashing from Reform UK at the other week's local elections, mayoral elections, and by-elections. He described Kemi Badenoch as a leader with no vision. He said the Tories had not learnt the lessons of their loss from last July's general election. They were still going ahead like they had always done, clueless and rudderless. To sum up, the Conservatives are like that steam train in "Back to the Future III" as the train pushes that time car and speeds up to make the jump back to 1985. Except the Tory Party is not the car that goes back to the future, it's the outdated steam train that has blown its boiler and careers off the cliff into oblivion. Oblivion could be a real outcome for the Tories.
