Zohran Mamdani: Future New York Mayor?
Trump sat talking to 60 Minutes, a news outlet he had sued a while ago. As Trump spoke, his popularity was/is on the wane. With government shutdowns, hundreds of thousands of federal workers are unpaid, and food benefits for millions of people are running out. Trump looks set to go to war with Venezuela and possibly launch military action in Nigeria. This from a president who said he was the anti-war president. So this may also be affecting his poll ratings. On top of this, there is the Democratic New York Mayoral Candidate Zohran Mamdani. Mamdani is an unashamed socialist. Many Democrats have distanced themselves from him, viewing him as too extreme. His radical left views and his pro-Palestine stance have made him controversial, to say the least.

Trump Declares Nigeria a "Nation of Concern".
There has always been trouble between Muslims and Christians in Nigeria. Attacks have regularly occurred between the two communities. However, of late, the number of Christians dying, according to some sources, is becoming disproportionate. Donald Trump has raised the issue of what is happening to Christians in the African country.

Starmer Sells Turkey Fighter Jets.
On Monday, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer met with the Turkish leader, Erdogan. The deal was signed by both leaders to sell Eurofighters, known as Typhoons, to Turkey. This deal will be a massive boost for defence workers at BAE Systems in the Northwest of England. 20 of the planes will be sold to Turkey, and the deal will cost Turkey £8 billion. This agreement deepens the ties between the UK and Turkey, two prominent NATO members. Turkey has the largest military in NATO apart from the US.

Zack Polanski: The New Hope?
Zack Polanski stormed to victory in the Green Party leadership election. Promising bold "communication" and "eco-populism". Polanski has vowed to "take the fight to Labour". Telling Sir Keir Starmer, "We are here to replace you". Mr. Polanski has told the Green Party membership he is not going to do politics in the "tried and trusted way". Mr. Polanski is little known outside the London Assembly, where he is a Green Councillor.

Strictly Come Dancing: Not What It Used to Be.. Content Warning.
I remember the good old days of Strictly Come Dancing when Bruce Forsyth used to introduce the show. Admittedly, Forsyth was not everyone's cup of tea, but he was a showman in the true sense of the word. If he could see the show today, he would be mortified and horrified, no doubt. Forysth was presenting the show well into his later years.

Shabana Mahmood: Branded Hypocrite?
When Nigel Farage made a speech at the Reform UK Annual Conference about migrants, he was branded racist. And obviously, there are grounds for saying that. On the other hand, many said and will say Mr. Farage was correct. The answer may lie somewhere in between. This summer, we have seen demonstrations by Native Britons protesting against migrants. Putting up Union Jacks and English St George Flags. Migration and immigration have always been a hot topic in this country. Of course, from actions like the above to the Tommy Robinson "Unite The Kingdom" rally in London, where Martian (could be!!) Elon Musk spoke via video link to Robinson, and it was all branded as racist. Of course, there are definite grounds for labelling these events under that allegation. However, not all folk there were bald-headed, beer-bellied, red-faced yobbos as the left often depicts them. There were people there, genuinely concerned about undocumented, mainly young men of fighting age, arriving on our shores.

Trump Sinks 5th Drug Boat.
US warships have been attacking boats off the coast of Venezuela. The US accuses these vessels of drug running off the coast of Venezuela and Colombia. The number of ships struck by the US is now at 5. The latest one was this week. The US says it is acting in self-defence, but lawyers have accused the US of breaking international maritime law. On TruthSocial, Trump's equivalent of Facebook, Trump said the US has intelligence that these craft are drug-running operations or "narcoterrorists ".

Keir Starmer Describes The UK's Role in Trump's Middle Eastern Peace Plan.. Content Warning.
As Trump's peace plan comes into play, Sir Keir Starmer has been speaking about what the UK could bring to the table. Sir Keir described the Trump Peace Plan as a "historic day". Mr. Starmer said, "What happens tomorrow really matters, and that's why I've been discussing with leaders all day is what part can we play?". Sir Keir stated, "And we, in the UK in particular, I think, can play a part in monitoring the ceasefire, but also decommissioning the capability of Hamas and their weaponry, drawing on our experience in Northern Ireland. So the question today has already moved to, how do we implement, how do we make sure this moves forward? It's really important we keep the focus. We mustn't (make) any missteps now".

Robert Jenrick is The Preferred Tory Leader.
Kemi Badenoch has inherited a Tory Party utterly devastated by last year's general election. The Conservatives were reduced to 121 seats, a complete collapse in Conservative support. What a complete difference from when Boris Johnson won the 2019 general election in a landslide. Rishi Sunak remained as Tory leader until another leader could be chosen as Sir Keir Starmer walked into 10 Downing Street, as Reform UK gained its first 4 MPs. A Tory election occurred within the party to elect a leader to succeed the hapless Hindu Sunak.

Bagram Airbase: No Deal!
It was in 2021 when Allied forces pulled out of Afghanistan, seemingly falling to defeat to the juggernaut of the Taliban onslaught. Under an agreement for peace, the first Trump administration had agreed to pull its forces out of the country. Biden was left to pick up the pieces of this Trump-Taliban Agreement. So the US and Allies rushed to evacuate the country as the Taliban took control. It's been four years since the Allies pulled out, and the Taliban are now in full control of the country.

Hamas Partially Agrees to Trump's 20 Point Peace Plan.
Trump told Israel to stop bombing Gaza as Hamas accepted point one of Trump's 20-point peace plan. Israel said it would scale back operations in the Gaza Strip, including its latest offensive in Gaza City. A statement by Hamas said, "In this context, the movement (Hamas) affirms its readiness to discuss the details of this agreement". With this affirmation, a lasting peace and permanent ceasefire draw nearer. That said, a senior Hamas official said the group would not disarm until Israel pulled out of Gaza. The official said the hostages might be released within 72 hours.
