Somers Doesn’t Let Fog Derail their Season with 28-14 Victory Over Lourdes
At the high school last night, the Tuskers found themselves on unfamiliar ground in the Quarterfinals of the Class A Playoffs. They trailed 6-0, and the fog did not obscure the Warriors from setting their sights on a two score lead with the goalposts just ahead. But Somers held on at the goal line. The home team then scored the next 21 points - leaving Lourdes not knowing where they were before falling 28-14.

John Jay Volleyball Sweeps Yorktown in Three Straight John Jay and its 16-4 record will likely enter the sectionals as the one or two seed and last Thursday night’s three game sweep of Yorktown should provide a good lift for the upcoming post season. But the October 17 match up was far from a late season tune up against an easy team, according to Coach Tom Rizzotti.

Super Bowl Madness
In case you’re living under a rock or don’t care, Super Bowl LIV is about a week away. Most of you are probably preparing to host a Super Bowl party or attend one, whether it’s at a friend’s house, restaurant, etc. The big game between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers in Miami is a matchup that’s worth tuning in for. I asked my followers last week which team they’re rooting for to win it all. A majority of people said that the Chiefs are going to hoist the Lombardi trophy. My pick to win the big game is the 49ers. The Chiefs are in the Super Bowl for the first time in 50 years, but I see San Francisco winning by less than 10 points. But the Sailor offense was not really heard from again until late in the third quarter, and any chance that visitors could keep up was pretty much decided on the Indians first play from scrimmage.

Part II : A Look Back at 2019 John Jay Football - vs Panas and Beacon
John Jay 49 Panas 17 Coming into Friday night’s game at Walter Panas, John Jay has enjoyed three blowouts. The offense explodes in all directions, and the defense stands down everything in their way. But football is a three dimensional game, and Head Coach Jimmy Clark geared his lesson plan as such this week. “We put emphasis on special teams,” said Clark, and the kicking game responded with three touchdowns in tallying a 49-17 rout.

Somers Rides Four Matthew Pires Touchdowns to 28-6 Victory
For the bulk of last night’s game between Somers and Sleepy Hollow, the end zone didn’t have a lot of company from the 70 players suited up at the High School. But when one breaks the plane four times, it's more about the company you keep, and Wide Receiver Matthew Pires happily obliged to be on the receiving end in Somers' 28-6 victory.
