The 2020 NFL Draft delivered hope among the promise of the unknown
When the New York Giants selected Georgia linebacker Tae Crowder with the 255th pick of the NFL Draft, the league’s first-ever remote draft came to a triumphant finish. After six weeks without sports, the event provided glimmering optimism that come September, things would be back to relative normalcy, and every team, player and fan would once again return to the quest for the Lombardi Trophy.

Case Plays 4/27 - 5/1
This week we focused on calls that involve a certain level of judgment and application of philosophy. The simple answer is always I need to see this to rule on it, but part of the fun with plays like these is going down all of the rabbit holes. I highly recommend going through these plays with your crew or a group of officials to get a different perspective.

Andy Dalton signs with the Dallas Cowboys
On Saturday, recently released quarterback Andy Dalton signed a one year deal with the Dallas Cowboys reportedly worth $7 million, according to Adam Schefter. Dallas is in need of a back up that could step in right away and Dalton would be a great fit. This also prevents the New England Patriots from getting a starting quarterback.

Grading every NFL team’s 2020 draft
Arizona Cardinals Arizona stacked the box, picking up a plethora of different defensive talents starting with outside linebacker Isaiah Simmons out of Clemson University. The Cardinals ranked dead last in almost every defensive category, especially in yards allowed per game, allowing 415.2 yards per game. They also added an extremely elusive Eno Benjamin out of Arizona State to replace David Johnson, a running back with considerable upside in the passing game and yards after contact.

The last two Section One, Division A Champions faced off at Somers High School on Saturday, and the back and forth game soared as high as the unseasonal temperature. A Look Back at Somers Victories over Horace Greeley and Poughkeepsie
Jack Kaiser Carries Somers to 33-0 Victory October 5, 2018 Horace Greeley played it safe by squibbing the opening kickoff, and Jack Kaiser appeared to oblige by bobbling the bounce. But the miss step seemed to pause the Quaker coverage, and the senior fullback glided almost untouched to the end zone. The four answered touchdowns that followed for Kaiser weren’t quite so unscathed and probably left bruises on both sides. But Kaiser was sure the Tuskers got the better of the the visitors - and not just on the scoreboard.

2020 NFL Draft Review: Arizona Cardinals
Last year, many football fans expected the Arizona Cardinals to not be real competitive with a brand new head coach and a starting rookie quarterback right out of the gate for week 1. However, the Arizona Cardinals easily exceeded their expectations in the rugged NFC West. The other three teams in the conference (San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, Los Angeles Rams) all finished with winning records in the regular season. Although the Arizona Cardinals finished with a 5-10-1 record, six of those ten losses were seven points or less.

NFL Mock Draft
Following the first wave of free agency, I thought it would be a great time to do another mock draft. I did this draft with my brother JAC Conlu to have more fun with it. A lot of big moves were done so far in free agency making this time of the year always exciting as a fan. This mock draft was done following the additions through free agency and catered to what the remaining needs are for each team. No trades were done in this mock draft.

Somers Doesn’t Let Fog Derail their Season with 28-14 Victory Over Lourdes
At the high school last night, the Tuskers found themselves on unfamiliar ground in the Quarterfinals of the Class A Playoffs. They trailed 6-0, and the fog did not obscure the Warriors from setting their sights on a two score lead with the goalposts just ahead. But Somers held on at the goal line. The home team then scored the next 21 points - leaving Lourdes not knowing where they were before falling 28-14.
