How to Get Out of Basketball Shooting Slump Fast In 8 Easy Steps
Every athlete knows the feeling of stepping onto the court with lost confidence. The ball seems heavier, the basket smaller, and each miss fuels frustration and self-doubt. This is what a shooting slump feels like. It's a cycle many players, even at the highest levels, face.

Howard outlasts City Life
(Photo: Howard's Ty'Sean Grice prepares for a first half free throw.) We've all heard this quote in some kind of way. "It is not how you start the race or where you are during the race, it is how you cross the finish line that will matter," is attributed to Robert D. Hales, a very successful businessman and religious leader.

Finals Game Three: Legends
June 9, 2011. That was the last time the NBA Finals hit the city of Dallas. It was Game Five that year and the Mavericks defeated the Miami Heat (during the Heat's first year with LeBron James) to go up 3-2, and took Game Six in Miami to win their first NBA Championship. Here it is, 13 years and 3 days later, and the Mavericks are on their home court in a tight situation. They are down 2-0 after losing twice in Boston, and they are looking to make a dent in their deficit in Game Three.

Finals Game Two: Backs Against the Wall
After a dominate Western Conference Finals upset, the Dallas Mavericks fell totally flat in Game One of the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics. The winner of Game One wins the Finals close to 70% of the time, but even so, a series isn't decided in the first game. Boston drew first blood in the Finals, but the Dallas Mavericks entered Game Two in Beantown looking to strike back.

Finals Game One: Boston Baked Blowout
The NBA Finals is here, folks! I do love the NBA Finals, because similar to the NHL's Stanley Cup Final, it's the finale of an amazing journey that includes 16 teams--well, technically 20 if you count the play-in games. One thing I'm trying to get used to is the fact that the NBA Finals actually starts before the Cup Final; it had been the other way around for a long time. Nevertheless, the NBA Finals is here, and this year, it's the Boston Celtics and the Dallas Mavericks battling for the Larry O'Brien Trophy.

NBA In-Season Tournament Announced
I've been hearing talk/suggestions about an in-season tournament for the National Basketball Association for a few years now, but never thought much of it because I didn't think we'd see this happen. Well...it's happening. The NBA announced that starting with the upcoming season (2023-24), an in-season tournament will take place, and all 30 teams will be involved. I'm a little bit familiar with some sports doing this. I want to say Major League Soccer does something like this, but I could be mistaken.

Finals Game Five: Joker's Wild. Top Story - June 2023.
When the Denver Nuggets took Games Three and Four so so easily in Miami, I knew that it would be over. I was looking forward to Game Five, because it was back in Denver's Ball Arena, and the Nuggets have a good chance to clinch their very first NBA Championship on their home court. To be honest, I expected the Nuggets to flat out demolish the Miami Heat--you know, just get it over with and celebrate.

Finals Game Four: One Step Closer
On this day in 2001, the Colorado Avalanche captured the Stanley Cup on their home ice at the then-named Pepsi Center (currently known as Ball Arena). During that same season, the Denver Nuggets, the Avs' arena roommates, finished 40-42. It's because of the Avs that I'm fascinated by Denver sports, but the overall success hasn't really been there. Interestingly, the Avalanche's 1996 Stanley Cup was Colorado's first pro sports championship. This was followed by a pair of Super Bowl wins by the Denver Broncos, and the aforementioned second Cup by the Avalanche. The Broncos and Avs each added a third championship later on, and while MLB's Colorado Rockies have yet to win a World Series, they did win a pennant in 2007.

Finals Game Three: South Beach Smackdown
While South Florida is basking in the reality of seeing two of their teams playing for championships at the same time, the franchises are going on different paths after two games in their respective series. The Florida Panthers seem to be running out of gas, as well as a bit too ornery, while the Miami Heat are doing quite well, heading back to their home court at 1-1 in this year's NBA Finals. This is the Heat's first Finals appearance in three years, but Game Three will be the first Finals game in Miami since 2014, as the 2020 Finals was played in the Orlando bubble.

Finals Game Two: The Heat is On
There were people saying that the Denver Nuggets didn't play too well during Game One, but from what I saw, they played well enough. They never trailed for the whole game. The Miami Heat looked so lost. Denver ended up winning by double digits to open this year's NBA Finals. My prediction was "Nuggets in six," but honestly, I left Game One actually doubting that the Heat would win a game.
