Encouraging the Elevation of Wellness
As we enter this new year following the woes of the year passed, I think it's important to consider what really promotes wellness for each of us individually. As I see it, each of us truly live in alternate realities. Now, one might argue against this and propose that we all live in the same reality, but I'm suggesting that our personal realities are based on more than our outer conditions. You and another person, for instance, may both be in a pitch black, soundless room, but does your reality, your total experience of that room, not differ from that of the other person based on your internal perception of what occurs in your mind and body in that moment? You might be comfortable; they may feel unnerved. Objectively, it's simple: you both are simply in a room without external stimuli, but, subjectively, the potential difference of internal circumstances strikes me as two unique individuals experiencing different realities at the same time. I often see others being primarily affected by the events going on around them, and, depending upon what those occurrences are, that experience of life can range anywhere from very favorable to very miserable. My point is that, upon reflecting this past year and even my whole life up to now, it's becoming increasingly prudent to pay just as much, if not more, attention to what is going on within myself if I'm to experience a more enjoyable reality, and the intent of what I'm writing here is to inform anyone reading of what my reality consists of on a daily basis in my endeavor to reach for a more enjoyable existence in this perpetual flow of countless experienced moments.

Being Better
The year 2020 changed the way we lived, worked, learned – practically every aspect of how we function as a society. I can only imagine historians trying to fit this past year into a textbook for future generations to learn! With that said, I feel like I can speak for many of us when I say that we have emotional whiplash from the amount of changes we have had to assimilate in short periods of time. It kind of felt like every time I got my head around one change another was just over the horizon. I think this has left many of us feeling as if the very foundation on which we stand is shaky and unstable.

Have You Ever Checked Your Heart Rate?
Heart Rate. The other day, I was climbing one of the small hills in Madurai (located in the state of TamilNadu, India) along with my friends. While a few of us could climb with easier efforts, a few struggled a bit, with their breathing strained. Only with adequate breaks, by catching up with their breath, they could climb. Of course, the hill had good and well-structured stairs to climb.

In The Beginning
From the time I was a kid, I always wondered where I would be by the time I reached 21. Well, here I am, a 21st century junior in college in the midst of a pandemic, and I never thought that I would be on the path of spiritual awakening that I am; working through my childhood traumas, releasing fears that had been keeping me stagnant and then some. Not to mention living through a pandemic, and the toll it has been taking.

The Dualistic Nature of Wellness Leaks
Our awareness of the areas of wellness is essential to finding fulfillment in our lives. Lack of awareness is nothing more than neglecting responsibility from a certain area or areas of wellness. This can appear in a variety of forms. It can show up financially by not checking our bank accounts because we are afraid of what we might find. It may emerge physically by not stepping on the scale or going to the doctor, because we are afraid to know what we feel is true. This awareness can even apply to spirituality by not checking in with ourselves or asking what deepest desires are. This is often because we are afraid of what we must do when we discover them.

My Path to Wellness
When I think of a resolution, it feels like an ending. A resolve to something. But as human beings, are we ever really fully resolved? I feel like I'm always evolving instead. I like to view my wellness as an ever expanding, ever growing, living, breathing thing.

THE HEART CHAKRA- Anahata Chakra
The name of this chakra signifies the state of freshness that appears when we are able to become detached and to look at the different and apparently contradictory experiences of life with a state of openness (expansion). This energy is specific to cooperation and integration, which brings peace and a new perspective in a world which, up to this level (considering only the energies specific to the first three centers of force: Muladhara, Swasdhistana and Manipura) was made only of a more or less conscious confrontation between opposite forces.

Fresh start
I welcomed this new year in hope. I know the world we are living in is seemingly daunting and most people are doing their best to get by. I wanted to promise myself one thing for this new year. In 2021 I will be ringing it in to host a new wellness ideal for myself and to possibly inspire others too. In 2021 I will welcome a new outlook on life and health. I will be starting to pay for my doctor's visits while living here in Canada. Why you might ask? To be frank and endearing; it is to harness my health issues and to find an honest doctor. You see I have struggled with finding a good doctor who is truly honest and will listen to concerns. So I looked into a completely different idea in its own based off of curiosity. I now have an Naturopathic Doctor who specializes in whole-self health. Mind, body and spirit connection to living a fulfilled lifestyle. I have had struggled with health issues in my not so far past that left me with no answers. So I decided to look into using herbal remedies to supplement the body’s natural processes. I will also be exercising more and literally attacking the idea of it in a fun way. I will be using a virtual reality headset to learn how to box and really grab exercise by the horns so to speak. Enough about the physical though. Mentally I will continuously embark on feeding my mind with healthy thoughts and affirmations. I use to feed it poison with hate speech and attack myself on the daily which spiraled into a vicious circle that would only make my mental health dwindle by the hour. To give my mind the medicine that it needs to grow stronger every day and build a health self-talk and lingo. To feed my mind with knowledge and help it grow sharp and rigid like a sword. Now spiritually is where a lot of others may not agree but I feel it is the most needed personally. The spiritual side will be filled with nature hikes and practicing Indigenous Culture & Ceremonies. This beautiful side of my heritage has proven to help me feel whole and fulfilled. Practicing smudge in my own home and sharing this with my children is something that I am proud to now know. I have journeyed from my lands in Nova Scotia to Alberta and have been blessed to meet Elder's and truly beautiful people to help build my knowledge of practice and be able to share with my family back home. Beyond will only tell in time where my journey will take me but I feel like I have finally found my path. My running shoes are on to embrace the journey ahead instead of hide in fear. My hopes and aspirations are flickering bright like a camp fire in the night. I know that my path is filled with rocks that may cause me to trip and even fall but I am motivated to keep pressing on. I envision my beyond in years to come to house successes like promotions at my job or even as great as being able to teach and help in Cultural Ceremonies while on the Sacred Land. To be able to help others embrace this beautiful Culture and find joy and peace in it as I do. My path has always been in the direction to help others and I will bring the well-rounded health and wellness that I practice to the table and teach others whenever the opportunity is granted!
