Salem Spirit: An Autumn Monday Morning Huddle Series
Good morning, and welcome to part one of Salem Spirit, an autumn series of my Monday Morning Huddle! Throughout autumn, my weekly nature-inspired spirit-guided post will feature photographs paired with channeled messages from Salem, Massachusetts. My goal continues with my catchphrase, "writing to uplift humanity," while exploring a place made popular with the witch trials of 1692. From all things witchy and haunted to architecture, literature, and colonial maritime history, Salem reportedly attracts over a million tourists during the Halloween season, with a record-breaking 37% increase in October 2024.

The River of Long Life
M Mehran When Daniel was a child, his grandfather would take him to the edge of a quiet river near their village. “This river,” his grandfather said, “is the secret to a long life. Not because of the water itself, but because it teaches you how to live.”

S-Day September 19
Over the past few months, I have struggled to focus on writing. After two trips to Europe in early summer, I finally wore out the remaining cartilage in my left knee. The meniscus had torn years earlier. The X-ray and MRI images showed that my ACL was destroyed. I had compensated by constantly tightening my thigh muscles, which added extra strain to the connecting ligaments. The left hip was replaced in 2016. That strain probably added to issues with the left knee.

Timeless Living: How the Longest-Lived People Teach Us to Thrive
M Mehran In the quiet hills of Ikaria, Greece, mornings begin slowly. Smoke curls from chimneys, neighbors greet each other with laughter, and the scent of herbs drifts from small gardens. But the remarkable thing about Ikaria isn’t its scenery—it’s its people. Here, living past 90 isn’t rare; it’s ordinary. And yet, these centenarians aren’t just alive—they are alive with energy, curiosity, and joy.

"I Peacefully Release Whatever Doesn't Serve Me.". Top Story - September 2025.
In a world full of hate and division, here is a tiny reminder that the load of the loathe ain’t worth it. We saw a public execution of a man that spews separation die by the very words he lived by. It’s sad and a shame no matter which way you spin it. Holding on to hatred does not serve anyone’s higher purpose. There’s no way to ascend while wearing the concrete slippers of ill intent.

The One Silent Habit More Dangerous Than Smoking, Says a 102-Year-Old Doctor (And How to Break It)
You take care of yourself. You might choose a salad over fast food, opt for a mocktail at happy hour, and even hit the gym a few times a week. We all know the usual suspects when it comes to health risks: smoking, excessive drinking, a poor diet.

Rose of Sharon Speaks: Caged Dreams Serve No Purpose; Release Them Now
Good morning, and welcome to the September 8 edition of my Monday Morning Huddle! Today, I bring you the lovely Rose of Sharon I photographed during a recent nature walk with my four-year-old grandson. I often look back through my pictures, admiring nature in print, and more often than not, I discover fresh insight into an old problem- inspiration found in subtleties, hidden messages jumping out, commanding my immediate attention.

The Geography of Memory
My dad’s mind had become a broken map. The places he once knew by heart—my mom’s name, our street, my own face—were turning into blank, unfamiliar spaces. Alzheimer’s is a thief, but it doesn’t just take the big things. It starts by picking the pockets of a life, stealing car keys, coffee recipes, and the punchlines to his favorite old jokes. What’s left is a confusing, heartbreaking landscape, with these awful, lightning-flash moments where he seems to remember everything, which is somehow even worse than the forgetting.
