Climate Change—Is the Answer Lying with All of Us?
Today I watched a documentary titled Cowspiracy on Netflix and, no exaggeration, it has opened my eyes in many a way and changed my entire outlook and perspective on life and the world around us. I was brought up to be a meat eater, and only managed a relatively short stint as a vegetarian last year. However I recently decided to try being a vegetarian again and, after watching this documentary, I've come to the decision that I wish to eat a vegan diet.

Let there be no lies, I am ABSOLUTELY winging this. With that said, be sure that I know how to do two things very well, which are writing and dieting. I am half black, and as such, if you know anything, I have what I value—a desired thickness which many women must work for to achieve. Of course, my very white mother did not understand the concept that color = thick. So as I hit puberty, my mother mistook my thickness for weight gain. As a good mother, it was her mission to help me stay thin, because that is what society tells us is most desired in order to be accepted. What does this mean exactly? Let me enlighten you. This meant I tried the low-fat diet, measured caloric in-take diet, the protein shake diet, the Weight Watchers diet, the no-carb diet and so on. While my Marmie meant well, she had no idea she was instilling in me the belief that I was not thick, but fat.

A lot of times while I'm at the gym, doing the best exercises for weight loss, people will come up to me and ask, "Chica, how did you get so fit?" I always tell them, "Diet and exercise." They're usually disappointed because what they wanted was an answer like, "I did nothing," so that they can do nothing too. That's just not how it goes. In fact, the people who do nothing to stay thin are less helpful than me, because at least I have something to say. What's the mysteriously thin person going to say? "I got good genetics! I just eat whatever and stay thin. I wish I knew more science to explain this better!" Well, lucky for you I know enough science to explain why your diet isn't working so that at least you have the option to take control of your life.

Nowadays, there are many people with allergies and intolerance. I know that you know that. Recently though I have realised something quite annoying, I could say. What is it? People making allergies a trend. This is what annoys me, drives me crazy. I have several friends who tried to make a trend out of it, by pretending they are lactose-free, dairy free, or gluten free, but next minute post cheesecake in all its might in a coffee shop; believe me, this stuff is not lactose or dairy free, neither gluten free.
