Dear Buttercup
By and large, since I was sixteen, I’ve gone running at least once a week. I’ve never been a stellar runner—as anyone who has ever known me a hot second will tell you—but I’ve persevered on like the best of the penguins. There have been a few extended exceptions: two surgeries (on the relative minor side I would say), the time I broke my foot the day after I turned thirty, and a couple of lengthy Lupus flares. That last one . . . that is me these days. I haven’t been running in six months, and for the first time since 2009 I haven’t done a long run race (specifically, a half marathon). To take it even farther, I haven’t done an exercise class since last spring . . . yeah.

Holy Crap I'm 40: Boys Will Be Boys Edition
Just because you are older, doesn't mean that you are wiser. Especially when it comes to your children. Even more so if you are raising boys when you, yourself, are a girl. So here I am, a 40 year old, and it still amazes me that boys/men are able to aim, shoot and pee in a straight line... with nothing dripping from the actual stream. I find the science of that absolutely incredible. Especially since women are not designed to 'go' like that. And yet, I had to toilet train my three sons with no help from their father. I would put cheerios in the toilet and they enjoyed peeing on them. Target practice for two and a half year olds. Great fun for everyone.

A Quick Glimpse (in the Mirror)
Wow! I must admit that this has taken me much longer than I anticipated. I've been wondering how I should start my first post. Not sure if I should talk about one of my novels, some of my short stories, my poetry, or if I should just talk about myself (Who I am? What do I like? What's my sign? Blah, blah, blah). For the record, I am terrible with social media and especially blogging. Being the classic introvert that I am, I find it difficult to talk about myself, directly. I honestly don’t think people would believe me anyway.

How I Lost Weight Without Intense Exercise
It All Started With Lack Of Exercise I started to gain weight in my late teens. As a kid, I had a horse and I was horseback riding every day and was showjumping basically every weekend. I was really fit back then, I assure you that. My main interests shifted in my late teens, and you can possibly guess the direction? Boys! And I went to school in another town so it became too time-consuming for me to have a horse, so I sold it. Poor eating habits and less training made me start to gain weight.
