The Catholic Church
The Catholic Church is often called the original Church founded by Jesus Christ. This claim is not just tradition; it is rooted in scripture, history, and the understanding of the early Christian community. Jesus did not leave instructions for a new denomination or a collection of independent groups. Instead, He established a single Church with authority, teaching, and sacraments meant to guide His followers through the centuries.

Why do catholics worship, Mary?
One of the questions that often comes up for people learning about the Catholic faith is why Catholics honor Mary, the mother of Jesus. It is a common misconception that Catholics worship Mary. In fact, the Church teaches that worship is due to God alone. Catholics do not pray to Mary as if she were God, nor do they believe she has divine power independent of God. Instead, Mary is honored because of her unique role in salvation history and her close relationship with her son, Jesus Christ.

Sexualized Barbies
I recently watched the Barbie movie directed by Greta Gerwig, and it stayed with me far longer than I expected. Barbie has long been a cultural symbol that represents unrealistic beauty standards and heavily sexualized ideals of womanhood. For decades, she has been portrayed as the image of who women are supposed to be. The ideal woman we blindly allow kids to play with and look up to as role models, the representation of a “perfect women”. I have never agreed with the Barbie standards, and avoided the movie refusing to promote a movie that continued to encourage these ideals. I finally gave in, and to my surprise this movie completely destabilized pre-dispositioned views and standards of what the Mattell company has always promoted. What surprised me about this film was how intentionally it challenged and reversed that image. Instead of reinforcing traditional expectations, the movie reconstructs Barbie as a way to explore the emotional, social, and psychological struggles women face, while also acknowledging the pressures placed on men.

How I.C.E. Shoots Renee Good and the Moment Minneapolis Broke
Sometimes a single bullet does more than tear through glass. Sometimes it shatters trust. On a cold Wednesday morning in south Minneapolis, a maroon SUV sat awkwardly on Portland Avenue. Horns echoed. Whistles pierced the air. Federal vehicles clogged the street like stones dropped into a river. Then came the gunshots — sharp, final, irreversible.
