Knowledge is Power
Fiddling with the locket in my hands, I sigh, remembering the Christmas I got it. Dad was still around back then. He told me he had picked it out himself, even though I knew mom had helped, but I didn’t want to ruin it for him. A heart-shaped locket wasn’t at the top of my list, however I still cherish it. I had planned on putting a picture of our dog and my parents in it. We never got that far. That was right before dad fell ill, before he lost his hair, his skin grew gaunt, and mom had to take me away.

A Bump on the Head Goes a Long Way in James Wan’s ‘Malignant’
Horror cinema has frequently been misunderstood and dismissed by haughty cineastes. From the multitude of slasher clones and their countless cheaply made sequels, the genre has always been an easy mark for pretentious snobbery.

Site-17: The Beginning Verse Pt. 1
You know those stories your friends and you tell around camp fires? Or the scary tales of creatures going bump in the night? Creatures under your bed or in your closet ready to pounce at any moment and the feeling of fright washes over you as you run and hide from the worst. Well I hate to break it to you, but it's true, Boogeymen do exist just not in the forms you think they exist in. Contrary to popular belief these things don't always hide. Sometimes they are in plain site, watching and waiting. Sometimes you cant see them and at other times you interact with them on the daily bases.

My Little Experiment
April showers bring May flowers; at least, that’s what my shrink used to tell me. If she’d known where that would lead, she might have chosen different words. But that was the phrase she used and that was the phrase that started it all. Logically, I knew she was just trying to tell me that hard times can result in something beautiful. Still, I took it to mean something else entirely. This is the story of how my April showers brought May flowers.

Curse of the Lupine Moon
December 2nd, 1865 – Central Minnesota Jeb was angry, which was good. The rage prevented the horror and sorrow from crippling him. It kept him moving toward the beast that had killed his wife, Tabitha, and taken his 8-year-old son, Caleb. He had little reason to believe that his son was still alive, but if there was even a glimmer of hope, he would never turn back.

The Melting of Selmor Pond
In the 27 years I have been alive, there have been two constant truths about my hometown: Selmor Pond has never thawed and people have always gone missing. And anytime anyone has ever brought up the possibility of there being a connection between the two, they also suddenly disappeared. That's why when I wrote a high school English assignment on it, my father made me burn it and swear to never speak (or write) about it again. And I had kept that promise...until the day Selmor Pond became water once more and every last person who vanished had returned.

Feast
Modesto, California. July 5th Darcy's eyes flickered open, fighting against the sharp morning light that was enveloping the bedroom. Like most nights she always slept heavy and experienced wild dreams an hour or two before waking which would be mostly forgotten by the time she had punched snooze for the final and umpteenth time.

Wendigo
Hungry. Hungry, hungry, hungry. All I could feel was the gnawing ache of the hunger. It drove me forward, kept me from resting. I crept through the woods like a ghost, eyes roving through the landscape for any hint of movement. Anything to eat. There was no fruit to be found in the winter here, nothing growing on the bare branches and snowy shrubs. Only the animals. Fat and hot with rich blood. It had been so long since I’d eaten. It was like a constant pit in my stomach, sending pulsing pain throughout my body, slowing my thoughts. I couldn’t think about anything else.
