Days of Our Lives: Nikki Crawford is the new Lexi Carver

A new Lexi emerges

Days of Our Lives viewers have been speculating that Lexi Carver is the woman in the test tube that Dr. Wilhelm Rolph and EJ Dimera are bringing back to life. It has been confirmed that Nikki Crawford has joined the cast as the new Lexi.

Renee Jones originated the role after portraying a Salem character named Nikki Reed. Jones walked away from acting, and her character died. After 20 years portraying Lexi, she left in 2012. Jones said she was tired of the entertainment business. She grew up on a farm and desired to return to the simple life.

That’s always a challenge, I think, coming in as somebody who was as beloved as Renée Jones was,” Crawford told TV Insider. “What she did was iconic, and she really created something wonderful. It’s understandable why the audiences loved and were invested in her and then were torn apart when she left. I saw it more as an opportunity to honor what audiences have loved, while bringing truth to who Lexie is today and creating upon what Renée had previously built. So it was exciting, but also, there was a bit of trepidation just because I know the love that people have for Renée.”

Crawford appeared in several 90s sitcoms, including Martin, Malcolm in the Middle, A Different World, and Living Single. Her last credited television role was Very Young Frankenstein in 2025. Her most recent film roles are.

What will be Lexi's future in Salem?

Lexi died from brain cancer, which was the result of being held in the Dimera tunnel by Andre, where, unknown at the time, there was a cancer-causing gas. Stefano blamed himself, but his daughter forgave him.

Days of Our Lives fans are divided on Lexi returning from the dead 14 years later. Ej's purpose for bringing his sister, Theo's mother, back to life is nto clear. Perhaps he wanted to stick it to Paulina Carver, who is now married to Abe.

A Days of Our Lives preview shows EJ allowing Paulina to look inside the tube, so this will be interesting. Theo will be happy that his mother has returned, but Abe's feelings will be divided.

Will Abe stick with the woman he is now married to or will he eventually desire to reunite with his former wife? Lexi was already younger than Abe, and now he will have an additional 12 years on her.

Once she is revived, will she move into the Dimera mansion where Rolph and EJ can continue to watch over her? Is their miracle cure real, or will there be some setbacks and Lexi die again?

A whole new world in Salem

How will Paulina handle having her rival alive and well? She has always had to compete with the memory of Abe's former wife, but now she will have to see her living and breathing in the flesh.

Lexi Carver will return to new relations to her family and Abe's. In addition to Paulina, there are Chanel Dimera, Lani Price, Eli Grant, and their twins, Jules and Carver. She must also be brought up to speed on the deaths of John Black and Doug Williams and all that has happened to Bo and Hope Brady.

Most importantly, her beloved father, Stefano, has now officially been declared dead. The one good thing will be the mother-and-son reunion between Lexi and Theo. Be watching for Days of Our Lives updates related to when Nikki Crawford debuts as Lexi Carver.
