A lone Sagittarius amongst the stars
I believe it was written in the stars or as my favorite quote from my weekly tarot reading a dozen or so years ago read "A champion of truth, peace and justice- they always find their true vocation in the service of those who suffer”, of course, as you guessed, “they” refers to me and my fellow Sagittarius!! Of course, whether that quote has anything to do with how we are, this intuitive art form of Tarot Reading was so deeply connected to my zodiac sign that morning that something about it lured me in on a quest to find more out about myself and my arched-arrow-holding half-man half-horse centaur.

I Am Who I Am
When I was younger, Astrology was always an interest of mine, one that I kept in the back of my mind and would look into only every so often. Growing up, I was always considered a Taurus, strong willed and bull-headed. But I always had another side, softer and kind-hearted. As I grew up, each chart saying I was a Taurus was changing, telling me I was a Gemini. I was so confused and honestly annoyed by this, even when I was younger, Gemini weren’t well liked, people called them two-faced and cruel. It made me question who I really was.

Is It Written In The Stars?
Let me begin by stating that I was born on August 8th which makes me a very solid Leo by all standards. Growing up, this was a most inconvenient birthday since it was never during the school semesters and thus I could not have one of those fun class parties where my mom would get everyone cupcakes or something. It was in the summer though and usually fell near a weekend which meant parties with family and friends were possible and plentiful.

The stars have aligned to make me....me!
My first experience with zodiac signs has to have been reading Seventeen magazine while drinking cherry and coke mixed Slurpee’s at the local 7-11. I remember standing near the cashier flipping straight to the back, fingers crossed that this would be the month that Billy would notice me. Spoiler alert…he never noticed me! But I went faithfully to confirm that was going to be the month that all my dreams would come true. It never really pin-pointed when all my dreams would come true…. but I am sure that at one point it must have said something to that effect. Right?

What's My Sign?
What’s your sign? That is the question that I always ask when I meet someone. I ask because this makes it easy for me to relate to the person at hand. I associate that person with someone else that I know. For example, if I meet someone that is a Taurus, I know that they will be stubborn, loyal, and everything must go their way. I know this because my moms' is a Taurus. Not every time it works but more than not it usually does help me make a general distinction of their character.

Just Beneath The Surface
The strength of a lion with the poise of a virgin is how one can identify me. My passion for life burns intensely and my need for structure will always be prominent. I was born on the tail-end of August; landing on the cusp of the Leo-Virgo star sign. Amazingly, I have been in tune with the attributes derived from being born under both star signs. I could not embellish on my personality any more than what is already defined by astrology and to that end, I am a firm believer.

Could Astrology be based in reality?
As the subtitle says I do not believe personally in horoscopes or astrology, but I implore you to not disregard my article. In the idea of horoscopes, I do not believe in a mythical force or connection between my personality, my actions and the star’s alignment. However, our mind are incredible machines. Simply believing you will get better has been proven to benefit health when your body is suffering from illness. I think this kind of reinforcement could be in play with horoscopes and zodiac signs.

Crabby and Proud
Astrology is right up there with tarot cards and psychics- either you believe in it or you don’t. With all the beautifully insane things that happen in our world, I find it difficult to believe that life is simply black and white, right and wrong are always definitive, and magic is only for fairytales. Hi, I’m a Cancer and I’m crabby and proud.
