Pumpkin Spice Lattés Are Nostalgia
Let me start by saying that until my second daughter was born, I had little to no interest in drinking coffee. That was eight years ago, and at some point during those eight years, my good friend Stacey suggested I try a pumpkin spice latté from Starbucks. I was dubious — outside of anything with peanut butter flavoring or chocolate, I tend to be a little bit of a purist and don't generally put anything in my coffee but milk and sugar. The notion of consuming pumpkin spice anything was at first off-putting, but I figured I might as well try it.

Garlic: Nature's Antibiotic
I recently came down with a summer cold. This generally doesn't happen to me. Being in the vicinity of three sick children in a small cottage for a few days brought me down though. However, as a Registered Holistic Nutritionist and granddaughter of a garlic-loving Romanian cook, I knew exactly what to do. I made my grandmother's patented coleslaw recipe. It is full of garlic, cabbage, and lemon, all foods that will knock a cold directly out of you. Curried Sweet Potato and Lentil Baby Food
One of the benefits of making your own baby food is the ability to get creative. I walk through the baby food section in the grocery store pretty often—just out of sheer curiosity and perhaps a bit of inspiration. While some of them sound pretty delicious —strawberry dessert, pears with prunes, beef stew, I know for a fact they aren't all delicious. And while I would like the convenience of simply opening a jar, my wallet can't justify it. And whats more, I know my food is delicious!

My Carnivore and I. Top Story - August 2017.
Being vegan can be a struggle. Never mind buying and preparing food for yourself, what about your beloved, carnivorous, significant other? I witnessed this battle between my brother and sister-in-law; he ate bacon everyday (livin' the dream) and she was vegan. She would cook his meals and then prepare her own. Now, she is nearing the end of a 6 year battle as my brother has almost completely transitioned to a vegan lifestyle. I am at the beginning of my own battle. I have no desire to change my boyfriend's ways, he can do that on his own if he so chooses, but what is he open to eating? How do I afford it? How do I manage my time? Is the only option to buy double the food and spend double the time? No one has time for that. I've developed skills in feeding my carnivore, and hopefully, they can help you feed yours!

Homemade Tomato Sauce
Today I am making homemade tomato sauce. This is one of the condiments I like to prepare and have on hand regularly. I have always loved ketchup and was used to slathering it with almost every meal. I knew I needed to cut back as manufactured ketchup is full of preservatives. My brother drew attention to this addiction and would joke “Your main meal today is ketchup with fries on the side!”
