What Went Wrong: Jets Swept Out of Elite Eight
The North Division was the last to complete the opening round of this year's playoffs, but they were the first to crown a playoff division champion, as the Winnipeg Jets ended up swept by the Montréal Canadiens in the North Division Final. The Jets swept the Edmonton Oilers to advance, but when it came to the Canadiens, the Jets couldn't handle the team who was coming off a comeback series win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. While this is still an improvement over last year, and also exceeded expectations for them in the playoffs, it is still a disappointing end for a strong team.

How I Grew to Love (and Dominate) Fantasy Sports)
I had been familiar with the concept of Fantasy Sports for a long time, usually Fantasy Football, that's always the most popular one. But I had a long aversion to it, and it was mainly due to my self-confidence--or lack thereof--regarding Fantasy Sports as a whole. For years, I had thought it was difficult, despite not really knowing the full concept. Then in January 2018, at the recommendation of a very dear friend, I entered a Fantasy Sports related contest that centered on the NFL Playoffs. A lot of you know what it is: the Fantasy Playoff Challenge.

Villainess Review: Alice Sands (Rizzoli & Isles)
Viewers just saw Annabeth Gish as Jennifer Dulos in Lifetime's true crime film, Gone Mom: The Disappearance of Jennifer Dulos, which is not Gish's first time in a Lifetime film--she appeared as the main protagonist in A Mother's Nightmare (which featured Grant Gustin, The Flash himself, playing Gish's son, and briefly returned in the sequel, A Father's Nightmare. In her amazing acting career, which includes (among other things) co-starring with Julia Roberts in Mystic Pizza, Gish has played her share of villainous roles, with the baddest one being Alice Sands, a recurring Big Bad who impacted the sixth season of Rizzoli & Isles, before officially appearing in the beginning of the show's seventh and final season.

Villainess Review: Emily Brown (The Captive Nanny)
There was a primary reason why I was counting down the days until Lifetime aired The Captive Nanny, but I'll get to it later. This film, which aired on May 30, 2020, centered on main protagonist Chloe, who was hired to serve as a nanny for young Tommy Brown, by his mother, Emily. Chloe is elated to have a job as a nanny, and regarding Emily, she welcomes Chloe with open arms. However, Emily basically has one key rule: Tommy is not to leave the house. When he is taken outside by Chloe, Emily scolds her newly hired nanny, but then tells Chloe her reasons for her strict rules.

Villainess Review: Francine Campali (Murdered at 17)
In 2018, Lifetime gave us Murdered at 17, one of the many installments from their themed "At 17" films, and this film's central villain was Jake Campali, who is visited by his mother, Francine, as the film's opening scene. Jake is clearly not happy to see his mother, who visited Jake under the claim that his father, Mike, was dying from cancer and she needed money to help pay his medical bills. Jake basically celebrated the news, and the reason: Mike was very abusive to Jake during his childhood, and in addition, Francine turned a blind eye to her husband's abuse.

Villainess Review: Kim Barnett (CSI: NY)
The CSI: NY episode, "Flash Pop," centered on the sudden murder of Jessica Drake, who worked at the NY crime lab, and what made it interesting was the fact that Jessica's murder copied the decades old murder of a woman named Lana Gregory. Jessica's inner circle included two of her fellow employees at the lab: Kim Barnett and Harlan Porter, with Jessica having dated the latter of the two.

Secrets and Deceptions
For CEO Gwendolyn "Gwen" Dawson-Finley, the last few days had been quite busy--mainly centering on a search for a new assistant. Her last one, Bethany Baxter, disappeared without a trace, and unfortunately for Gwen, this was not isolated, as she was the second to come up missing in the last five months. Gwen's search ended when she found the perfect choice in Darcy Royce, who made a fantastic first impression on her new boss.

A Heartfelt Message to Maple Leafs Fans
To any and all fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs: I am sorry. I am so, so very sorry. I am sorry that you have to suffer so much heartbreak year after year after year. I'm sorry that a team as amazingly talented as the Leafs seem to get snakebit in the playoffs on a perennial basis. I'm sorry that fans of teams who aren't half as good as the Leafs have the temerity to make jokes at their expense and mockingly say "1967," even though their teams haven't won anything at all. And most of all, I am so sorry that you had to witness yet another playoff disappointment, especially since this year's team was the best in the last 20 years.

Villainess Review: Sheila Porter (Law & Order: SVU)
To this day, I still remember the five-episode arc from Season 19 of Law & Order: SVU that gave us the legendary Brooke Shields; I even remember Shields promoting her SVU appearance. She kept the details of her character under wraps, but as we saw in the final moments of the episode, "Contrapasso," Shields was introduced as Sheila Porter, the maternal grandmother of Olivia Benson's adopted son, Noah Porter. This was a surprise to Olivia, as she had known Noah's late mother, Ellie Porter, and had believed that Ellie's mother had been deceased for some time.

Villainess Review: Mae Feinberg (The Mentalist)
The episode "Silver Wings of Time," began with a bomb going off near a bus station, very chaotic occurrence. The bomb killed a man named David Renaldo, who was revealed to be a friend of Luis Cruz. Why was the name Luis Cruz important? Because he was set to be executed in a matter of days. Cruz was arrested and convicted of the murder of a woman named Sarah Feinberg, which was committed 14 years prior to the events of the episode. Because of this, Sarah's widower, Dr. Edward Feinberg, was interviewed, with his second wife, Mae, at his side.

What Went Wrong: Wild Lose Seven-Game Thriller to Golden Knights
The Minnesota Wild's series with the Vegas Golden Knights began with a 1-0 overtime win for the Wild in Game One. They lost the next three, but with their backs to the wall, they took Games Five and Six, getting a shutout in the latter, but when it came to the pivotal Game Seven, the Wild stayed in it as long as they could, but they couldn't stop the Knights' onslaught. The Wild's season came to an end, but look at their three wins. Two of them (Games One and Five) were in Vegas, two of them (Games One and Six) were shutout, and the Game Five win came despite being outshot by a near 3-1 disadvantage (40-14).

What Went Wrong: Predators Eliminated by Hurricanes
The Nashville Predators put up an amazing effort in their series against the Carolina Hurricanes, but it still wasn't enough, as Sebastian Aho's overtime goal in Game Six ended the Predators' season. This was a series that was very close after the first two games were dominated by the Hurricanes, as the next four saw a combined 74:13 of overtime played. Nashville's two wins came in double overtime, leading the Hurricanes to score quickly in the last two extra frames to finish off the Predators.
