The real reason for the birth decline

the truth.

By Lena BaileyPublished 7 months ago 3 min read

I am writing this to shine a light on the truth. I also wanted everyone to stop blaming just the childless by choice ladies (CBCL). The CBCLs are a small percentage of the story. I want to start this post off by telling why we blame the childless by choice people. I will even put a warning for the researchers in the crowd.

People blame the childless people because it's the easiest thing to do. It's also the thing that makes sense to most people. I also think that people can't see the bigger picture, they may not know the bigger picture. Seeing the bigger picture maybe why I'm here. I feel like the men with the trust me bro podcasts also want to blame the world's problems on women for whatever reason.

Please be careful while researching this or any topic for a few reasons. You may find different things based on the questions asked and how you ask the question. In researching this post, I asked the question two different ways and got two different answers. Also you will find what you seek. If you want to find the conservative articles, that is what you will find.

So let's look at some of the reasons for the decline.

Yes there are people who don't want kids. Around 30% of 18- to 34-year-olds without kids are unsure if they want children, and 18% say they don't want any biological kids but that is a small group. Also, nearly 20% of adults of reproductive age from 14 countries believe they won't be able to have the number of children they want. A study found that the percentage of nonparents who don't want any children rose from 14% in 2002 to 29% in 2023. Reasons for not wanting kids range from financial challenges to genetics (passing on bad genes). People may not have multiple kids because of finances.

Not wanting kids is a very personal thing and no matter the reasons we should never shame or bully people for not wanting kids. We also shouldn't force or bully people into having kids either. We should also leave people alone who are on the fence. Let people make their own choices.

The first reason is the decline of teen pregnancy. This is good news, right? This isn't a new thing though. According to childtrends.org the decline has accelerated in the past decade: Teen birth rates dropped 20 percent from 1990 to 2000, 28 percent from 2000 to 2010, and 55 percent from 2010 to 2020 (declines continued into 2021). This is not an actual problem, this a solution to an old problem. This is one of the issues that I think we can let go of.

Money is a big issue for a lot of people. Either they can't afford any kids, or they can't the number of kids they went. With the rising cost of everything the cost of raising kids keeps going up. It cost about $21,681 per year. That's close to amount of money for a new car. It could also be money for rent/ mortgage and other big bills people have to pay.

Also infertility is another fact. With IVF laws and cost it can be hard or impossible for everyone to consider even taking a swing at it. Also the same goes for surrogacy. It's amazing how expensive and hard all of this is. Miscarriages are another thing that comes into play. Women who have had multiple miscarriages are less likely to try again.

While speaking about miscarriages we also have to talk about the laws. With so many news stories about women not being able to get the health care they need during ectopic or miscarriages they may not want to risk it.

People are also struggling to find someone they want to have a baby with. If they can't find someone then the money stuff comes into play again.

There's other reasons as well but these are the main ones. So please stop blaming the childless people.
