NBA players at odds with Atlanta Hawks hosting ‘Magic City Monday’ promotion for upcoming game

The promotion, a collaboration between the Hawks and the fabled club, will feature specialty lemon pepper wings, a live performance from T.I., merchandise, and a live taping of the Hawks podcast featuring DC Young Fly, T.I., and Magic City owner Michael “Mr. Magic” Barney.

The reality of the strip club scene in the Bible Belt is a result of the mixed premises of believers who wish to be intertwined with mysticism’s God and Devil. Most people who believe in the unknown and unknowable still like to dabble in the aspects of this world.

The Atlanta Hawks plan to have a Magic City Monday with lemon pepper wings and collectible clothing on March 16. Some NBA players, however, like Luke Cornet of the San Antonio Spurs have taken opposition to the idea. Al Horner, a Golden State Warriors power forward and center has championed Cornet’s cause citing that the women in their lives would be disrespected.

Regardless, team owner Jami Gertz is plowing ahead disregarding any caution signs from players.

Maybe a boycott would be the only way for the game to not be played. It just seems like a double standard. When ball players toss up thousands at the club and on Friday and Saturday and then go to the feet of the Father on Sunday morning it’s hypocritical. It’s a sign that the culture may be at a breaking point and finally embrace atheism.

How? If enough people recognize that the strip clubs are a response to the repression of sexual urges and celebration of the flesh, then they will be converted to centers for the study of Ayn Rand’s philosophy of Objectivism.

The petition appears genuine and clearly has set a precedent even if Gertz continues with her campaign.

Now, these ball players probably can’t spell out their full names in most cases, Cornet being an exception. Although, he may have had help, but that’s a totally different situation altogether. Magic City has generated millions of dollars in revenue for the city for believers to get lap dances and then pray that they be forgiven for objectifying someone’s daughter, sister, niece, mother, aunt, cousin. But shouldn’t they claim responsibility, too?

The women in most cases don’t have to dance. They volunteer for their roles. And the NBA partnership will not broadcast boobies and booties. They will just have food and apparel available for minors. There may be questions concerning what Magic City is and what it means to Atlanta from children. Gertz, since she wants to keep going with this idea, should be the one to explain all of this.

It might get awkward. For the kids to ask about poles and high heels, that could be difficult to describe. The understanding of the landscape should be outlined. It’s an amazing thing when children turn adults and realize what they saw as children and then comprehend as grownups. What is certain is that Magic City is the temple to titties. It’s important to show the amount of support the place gets from Christians who want to eat their cake before it’s even baked. They want to tattoo their skin with scriptures and recite passages from the hateful scrolls but then kick back and enjoy themselves at the club.

That’s the crux of this whole predicament. It brings to mind the notion that there is a distinction and a tearing effect between the soul and the body. Instead of taking their life seriously, most rappers and ball players who frequent Magic pray after they spit up their thousand dollar bottle of champagne in the parking lot. For Cornet and Horford, they are fighting the battle but for some of the wrong reasons. They should be combatting the idea that mostly men live a double life and fail to see the light of reason.

As the NBA, for now, goes along with the idea, they should persevere with their concerns despite their invalid status.
