How to Wear Black Like a New Yorker
If you’re living in New York City, wearing black is pretty much a requirement. New York is the fashion capital of the world, but it’s also dreary and cold most of the year. Black is a New Yorker’s way of saying, “I’m busy, I’m chic, I’ve got things to do.” You wouldn’t understand unless you lived there, but the point is, if you live in New York or you’re planning on moving to the city, you’ll need to learn how to wear black in the concrete jungle and how to wear it well. Sustainable Shopping. Top Story - December 2018.
I can vividly remember visiting my older cousins when I was a child and getting ecstatic when I walked through the door and saw three gigantic garbage bags filled with clothes for me to try on and shop "for free." There would be college t-shirts that made me feel like a grown up and there would be nice dresses that I knew I would never wear, but they would look good in my closet when my friends came over to play.

My T-Shirt Business
I have three sample shirts, “Denial is not Just a River in Africa,” “Don’t Give Me Shit About My Meds,” and “Sober!!” I’m debating what shirts to make next. I need to get the “Sin Vergüenza” T-shirt going, or perhaps “Bill Wilson Sent Me.” I’m interested in making t-shirts to sell on my Etsy store but my bank is going to shut down my business account on January 30 if I don’t make extra money to put in that account. I’m looking for a steady paying job, and to publish my writing somewhere, as well as write articles. This is one way I have to generate funds. My t-shirt business is supposed to make sales on the Etsy store. I’m going to try to do this when I make extra income from a part-time work from home online job.

Interview with an Ethically Motivated CEO
This interview came out of a research project I completed for my English class. The project was on the subject of "fast fashion," which is a term used to reference the production of cheap, in demand clothing. I interviewed Jessica Kelly, the founder of Thr3efold, which is a company with a "threefold mission of people, planet, and profit" that is working to connect designers with ethical factories and form business relationships that are economically sustainable and environmentally friendly. One of the things about Thr3efold that piqued my interest was the fact that their founder is from my hometown, and she has firsthand experience with the local impact of fashion and how it makes its way down the chain of ownership. You can read the interview below.
