Teens, Tweens, and Why We're Not Just Being Drama Queens
With all of the technology that is so readily available to us nowadays, it's easy to assume that life is significantly easier than in the past. This theory is particularly applied to teenagers, with adults saying that "They have it so easy now," and, "They never had all of that technology when they were young." But do we ever really stop to think about the negative side effects of this technology-focused upbringing? Yes, in a practical sense, life is easier for teenagers in today's world than it has been in the past, and technology has played a huge part in that. However, is the rise of technology having a psychological impact on young people, and, if so, why does it go over-looked?

The DNA of Greatness
I recently watched a documentary on Albert Einstein, and by recently I mean this morning. It was fascinating. Obviously, the main focus was on his achievements in theoretical physics like his papers on the photo-electric effect and, of course, general relativity. What I thought was interesting, though, was how they focused a lot on his character; i.e. who he was as a person. That got me thinking about the characteristics Einstein had that contributed to his greatness and if those can be quantified. Are there a collection of attributes that can be identified in people who change the world? Essentially, is there DNA to greatness?

What Do You Do When Your Life Is out of Your Control?
What Do You Do When Your Life Is Out of Control? I sat on the hard metal bench at the Greyhound bus station in tears. My 23 hours rode trip had just been extended by ten hours, and it wasn’t my fault. My bus from New York was two hours late arriving in Raleigh, and my connecting bus had long left the station. Probably fearing a verbal beat down from the 40 or so tired passengers arriving at the station. The two ticket agents on duty provided no comfort. They made little to no eye contact as we lined up to trade in our obsolete bus transfers and get new tickets.

What It Means to Be Successful... in Life or As an Educator
Growing up, we always wondered how life would be as an adult. What career would we have? How would our families turn out? How might we view ourselves as successful people? I know that I have asked myself those questions about a million times. Although, the central issue that stands out to me is what it means to have success in life. Now, people may say that being successful means having the luxury of being rich and famous, having a high paying job, money, a big house, and fancy accessories; yet, people don’t realize that just having these things does not necessarily lead to happiness in life. It means something different to each one of us, and we are all striving for some form of it. For me, success means being able to accomplish my goals in life. It’s about getting the education that I deserve, finding the right career choice that will make me smile every day, having a family who I love and adore, and just being the person I believed I’d be when I grew up. Success is not all about the appearance. It is about the joys of working towards having a well-balanced life and striving for greatness.

Twists and Turns
Life is a whirlwind. It’s full of twists and turns. You have this idea how you want things to turn out, and you set all these dreams and goals for yourself, and it drives you crazy as you constantly think about them and you have all these questions—how to get there, how bad do you want it? What lengths will you go to make that dream to a reality? How little you’ve done to achieve those goals… You have all these ideas, but you have so freaking many and you have no idea where to start, and you know it’s impossible to achieve them all, so you make some sacrifices, for yourself.

Make Good Choices
Have any of you heard that new Luke Bryan song? I guess it's not all that new now. It's called "Fast," and it talks about how quickly life goes, and I really appreciate that song. I graduated in 2014, and since then I have realized how quickly life can pass by. My dad once said, "When you are an adult, the days sometimes feel like they will never end, but then you blink and the week has passed. And soon it's been a month, and then a year, and you don't even know where the time has went."
