It's Not You; It's Me
I really didn’t want to write about this today, but it was the prompt I pulled randomly out of my box of journal prompts so I challenged myself to tackle this topic. Writing about relationships that are draining seemed like a difficult topic because I am picky about who I allow in my life so I didn't think I had any truly draining relationships, but as I started writing, the relationship I discovered I did and the most draining relationship I found surprised me.

How to Get Rid of Monday Syndrome
As we know that every good thing has an end, we know that every weekend has an end too. When a weekend finishes we wake up to a new week, to new beginnings but we never think it this way. We always complain about Mondays, we share sleepy or hateful posts on social media.

The One Simple Key To Life
Don’t watch the clock. Do what it does. Keep Going. That quote is plastered on posters meant to be inspirational for employees in thousands of workplaces. Typically, that poster is mounted next to the one with the adorable kitten dangling from a rope with a caption that reads, “hang in there.”

Telling Stories
“Storytelling has earned its place as the most important tradition humans possess. The most important reason for this being that every story contains a lesson to instruct the audience. Stories teach us to love, to forgive others, to be just and to strive for better than we have.” – Excerpt from, “The Importance of Story Telling”, by an essay contest winner from Home Schooling Advocates online contest

The Light in My Darkest Hour
I want to start off by saying in no way is my goal here to try to convert anybody, I am simply sharing my personal experience. If you are not of Christian faith then I hope you take the general lesson from this reading and are able to apply it through your own beliefs, whatever they may be, mine just so happens to be in Jesus Christ.

Self Compassion: What Does It Really Look Like?
“You’re inner critic is simply a part of you that needs self-love”, Amy Leigh Mercree The last few years seem to have been full of mistakes for me. One after another, just piling up like a Jenga puzzle. Ready to collapse at any given moment. What I realized is that every mistake comes with an emotional impact. It ignites feelings of shame, guilt and fear. These can overwhelm you and take over your progress. You become paralyzed and stuck. What I’ve discovered is only you have the power to overcome this obstacle. There is one sound answer to heal from these wounds, and that is self-compassion.

The only motivation you’ll ever need
I think that it’s healthy that we are reminded of our own mortality. The truth is that you and everyone you know will die within the next 8-9 decades. That seems like a long time, right? It really isn’t. I’ve been alive for nearly 3 of them already and it feels like only yesterday I was playing cricket in my backyard with my best mates as a young kid.

Queen of The Moment
Own It! Often times, we are faced with great sadness and despair, simply because of what we are feeling. We forget that we have a right to choose what we do with our emotions. We are given this life to explore this beautiful planet and all that we encounter within it, yet we are most likely to respond to our existence based on what and how we feel in any given circumstance. Our lives are not conditional when it comes to the experience of bliss. Nothing and no one can confiscate our right to choose how we respond to unfavorable circumstances. Of course, life will throw us left and right upon the coursing currents of unforgiving streams of emotional disturbance, but how we manage in the water is what counts. We all suffer deep emotional dis-ease at some point, whether it is instigated by our own children, mate, family member, friend or co-worker. It happens to all of us. What doesn’t always happen is our remembrance of our rights to choose how we react and respond. We find ourselves approaching that proverbial emotional elevator, and we somehow always seem to press the button that takes us DOWN, don’t we? Well, why? It’s as if we don’t know in that moment that we can choose to take that same elevator UP! It’s us, isn’t it? We are pushing the buttons, ultimately. It’s our very own choice. The doorman of our mind is standing there when the doors open. “Which way, sir or madam?” And then, we choose. We choose the floor, don’t we? There are so many floors. The let’s just have a few drinks floor, the let’s get high floor, the lets be promiscuous floor, let’s not forget the gambling floor, or let's beat our mate or children floor! Any one of those have been pushed repeatedly by someone in our society. It happens every day. They take the elevator down. Let me give you an example:
