self help
Self help, because you are your greatest asset.
Jelly Juice
It had been months of just busy. Work was busy, home life was busy. I wasn't getting much sleep. I hadn't had the time to catch up with friends, or go for meals and drinks. I hadn't seen a movie at the cinema for as long as I could remember. I hadn't even attempted to shop, unless it was food shopping; and even that lately was done online.

The Writer's Block is in the Upstairs Bedroom!
Since I'm currently in the throes of having a writer's block, it may seem odd for me to be writing an article about writer's block. But since I'm human, contradiction is my middle name, so here I am. And so are you. Which means either you are currently blocked or probably have been blocked in the past.

Five Self-Care Tips We Are Never Taught
Maybe I should begin by saying that self-care was never high on my list of priorities. I've been teaching for over a decade, I've normalized "holding it" for the whole morning and worked straight through lunch regularly. Once, I worked for a charter school that gave us five days off a school year. And paid us bonuses if we didn't use them. But self-care is a real thing that some of us millenials forgot to learn in our eagerness to get ahead. Or, if you graduated right around the recession like me, you did just to get a job at all.

LIGHTS! CAMERA! ACTION!
"What should I wear so that they will accept me?" "How should I wear my hair? I'm sure they'll want me now." "Maybe this post will make me look like I'm doing better." The truth is... We've all been through this at some point of our lives. Whether it's now or in the past, we've all wanted to be accepted, liked by someone we like, or just simply loved by those around us. For me, it was "maybe if I never make a mistake playing music, I'll be accepted and people will always want me to be a part of they're project." Although in most cases that is a true statement (because who wants someone that messes up all the time), if we're not careful, that ambition that was once so unsophisticated and sinless turns everything sour. Your demeanor turns sour, your smile is sour, your words are sour, and your presence in a room is sour. So even though you look good on the outside and sound good, what do you think you're releasing in a room? Here's a better question for you... What happens when the lights are turned off, the cameras are turned off, and there's no need to deliver?

Bell lets talk
Bell, let’s frickin talk Mental illness is real. I’ve battled everyday with depression and anxiety. When you’re young, you go through so many different things, like getting your heart broken, friend break ups, family drama and everything in between. It can be so lovely, but also so overwhelming and things can creep up on you so quickly. When i was as young as 5 i was always told i was so shy, i would panic about a presentation in class for months before it happened, my heart always raced and i got so uncomfortable speaking to anyone, and I would constantly hide behind my parents, heck, i still do that sometimes. When i was 16 i realized that what I have is social anxiety, i started piecing everything together and told my shitty therapist at the time that i had it and she fully agreed.

Past is a golden memory
People tend to hate talking about their past a lot. Even the darker moments are something to be proud of because we have become the person we are today. People tend to think that talking about difficult times is a sign as if you are suffering just by speaking about it. Every moment is a step that you have accomplished and that is why I’m writing about it. All memories and moments in your life matter: either the nice or the worst ones are important.

I hope there will be clowns?
It's easy to understand the question when you know it's origin. In your mind you know, this is huge! The step you are taking is the single most scary, wonderful, confusing thing you have ever done in your life. When you were deciding to get up the courage to walk out this mandate on your life, you were saying to yourself...

its all about you
This piece could go in a few places as it covers a few subjects. Its born from mental health and it could be an unpopular opinion , but here it is in motivation territory. I have learned over time that the there is only one person you need to put above all others, one person that deserves your full respect and one person that you should love and cherish above all others.

My mind is active but my body is tired
My mind is active but my body is tired.. Backstory: I'm currently receiving ongoing treatment for a bladder condition (there's no diagnosis yet but the symptoms are similar to Interstitial Cystitis) and this has been ongoing for almost 8 years.
