healing
How to heal fully and properly.
It takes a global pandemic to make you see.
There is nothing like a global pandemic to make us realise how realient and adaptable we really are. We have been grounded by this virus, this parent we never even asked for, something not even our own parents could do but here we are, grounded! Like lost little children, crying for the pubs to reopen, but here we are, locked away inside our homes, but it made us realise how much stuff we thought we needed that we don’t. So many of us have been clearing out our personal junk, disconnecting with people we thought we needed and reconnecting with people we haven’t spoken to in months or even years. This pandemic has forced us to simplify ourselves and become more creative in our personally lives, it has forced us to reconnect using social media and talk to family members on zoom. Dinner dates over video chat and if we don’t like the way the date is going, we can turn off.

Stay Safe
We all take for granted the things we should be valuing. Prior to this quarantine a lot of us didn’t value our time, our loved ones or just the simple things. The amount of times I can rewind to me saying oh I wish today could just be over or I just don’t want to do the school run! These now feel like selfish things to say, wanting today to be over due to things not running smoothly and not wanting to do the school run because I’m tired. How could I have ever wanted time to just go by without embracing it and why would I not want to go out and see other people. Corona virus has definitely forced us all to be thankful for everything we have especially the small things. Two things that we must appreciate from now on is being given a second chance to see another day and having the ability to do what we can when we can. There have been thousands of individuals who have sadly lost their lives to the corona virus who would’ve wanted to see another day or do a school run with their grandkids or children. It truly breaks my heart.

Living Through a Pandemic
One day you're living life normally, going out to eat, spending time with loved ones. You don't expect life to turn upside down the next day. You don't expect to not get to see those loved ones, or to go out to your favorite restaurant for a long period of time. All because something random happened somewhere far away. All you hear or see on the news is all about this new virus going around that is infecting and even killing many. A panic can ensue and make you be scared to even touch your own face.

Postcards from a Pandemic, Part Five: Hits and Misses
Gradually, in the middle of April, a shaky consensus is emerging: There’s a faint light at the end of the tunnel. Within weeks, those of us living constrained lives of Netflix, long walks, and earlier and earlier cocktail hours, will be forced out of our bunkers to confront what we once called “the real world.”

Awakening To The Gift of This Woman -The Complete Metamorphosis
There are so many women that are so incredible, more incredible beyond words. Women who have made significant strives that deeply impact the collective but only one comes to mind when I think of the valuable impact to me on a deep profound level. So profound, that the power has freed me and created a transformation that changed the trajectory of my life. Who’s that person you ask? Well that person is I- Me, Myself and I. And while most might perceive this statement to be egocentric, I promise you it's not. It is actually the most inspirational and humbling thing one can say, but not only say, but also achieve for themselves in this lifetime. So please keep reading.

It's Written Across My Face
This is my story, in my own words. My name is Jackie Turner and I have overcome so much already in my young life. A woman like me isn’t supposed to dream. I am suppose to be another statistic. I was born to a 17 year old mother who lived in the projects. By 8 months I was sold for 1,000 dollars for drugs. I was then given to a woman who locked me in closets beat me, and would occasionally starve me from the time I was 5 years old until I was 9. At the age of 9 I was abandoned, left on DYFS stairs for two hours with a garbage bag of clothes. By age 11 I moved in with my birth father who beat me every single day I lived with him. Living in that home was like having your worst nightmare as your reality. From age 11 to 16 I lived in my nightmare. By age 17 the state took me away from my birth father, and sent me far away from home. I moved from the East Coast to the West Coast, to start life once again. This time I lived with an aunt and uncle who quickly unraveled after my uncle was caught cheating. I ran to the streets, after the loss of family again, and the death of a young family member. I was searching for hope. I went to a program in the woods of Northern California, where I confronted my past. It was hard work to tear down the walls you’ve built to protect yourself and begin to live again, but I fought every step of the way and I did it.

Susie (Q) McBride-Welsh
Why Susie "Q" McBride-Welsh? Susie Q’s Kids was formed following the death of our daughter Susan Renee McBride-Welsh at the tender age of 31. She was a miracle birth from the beginning and shed a light over all she knew. She always wore a smile, gave a word of encouragement, a helping hand, and wanted to fix the injustice or pain anyone felt. She supported charities with her volunteering, her in-kind donations, and when possible her financial contributions. She especially wanted to help children feel they were special and could do anything they put their mind to, a motto she lived by and emulated. “You Got This!”

The Scars that made her Beautiful
Whatever is pure and undefiled by daring individuality or the darkness of an unfortunate world- THAT is beautiful. In the beginning, the severity and expectation of purity becomes a unanimous decree passed down from generation to generation. A hope for our daughters, that they’d never shed a single salty tear aside from the ones that swell from joy. A prayer that a wicked world would pass them by when seeking victims for its next tragedy or precautionary tale. It’s true- there’s a precious beauty tethered to the innocent, those who don’t see, speak, hear but have a healthy fear of the unspeakable things lurking in hollows of humanity.

The Woman I Turn To
There are so many influential women in the world, women that have strived for and accomplished many incredible things in life. Women that have overcome their fears and pushed for greatness, women that have always remained determined no matter what obstacles have been thrown in their path, women that have kept hope even when it seemed no hope was left. The woman that overcome her anxiety and gained confidence in her abilities, the woman that learned that she was capable of anything, the woman that fought to build a business that only she could see the potential, the woman that learnt how to become a role model for others, the mother that raised phenomenal men and women through unselfish acts knowing that she herself must remain disciplined in the eyes of temptation.
