Perfection
She stands at 5'5". She has a 26-inch waist. She's a brunette. Her eyes are blue, which compliment her fair skin and soft facial structure. She often makes you laugh, as she has a great sense of humor. She sounds pretty hot, right? According to some super scientific surveys I found on the internet (following) the ideal eye color, hair color, skin color, personality trait, and body type, the woman I just described is our society's perfect Franken-Chica (society's perfect man is over 6'0" with all the same ideal characteristics as a perfect woman, for those of you I left wondering).

A Little Ramble
I used to write every day on an old laptop that was my equivalent of a diary. Every time things seemed too big or too complicated for my frazzled teenage brain to deal with, I would write poems or letters or lyrics. Then later I would go back, read it through and feel exactly how I felt in that moment and understand myself and my emotions just a tiny but more than I did before. I went through a lot when I was younger and chose to deal with most of it through intoxication and creativity and I think after a while, the two became intertwined and I stopped being able to do one without the other. So, as I started spending more of my time sober and as I got older, writing became harder. Reading back what I had written before made me feel too much or scared because I felt nothing at all. Maybe it’s because being an angsty teenager you choose to embrace all the things you’re feeling and when bad things happen, or you react badly to things, it's ok because it's "hormones" and not mental health problems. Or I think that in some ways, drugs and alcohol made me more open with myself about how I was feeling and without them, I couldn’t reach that place that had always been so important to me.

Great Feelings
Cat’s great feelings: Driving down a road in the fall, when all the leaves are turning colours, and the road is lined as far as you can see with these colourful tree’s And the already fallen leaves are casually blowing across the road. Watching the way the sun shines through glass. With a slight dust floating through the sun beams, during golden hour. Riding bikes during the golden hour, in the spring, while a great album plays from your phone, and being slightly or a lot stoned. Relaxing in your freshly cleaned house, with acoustic music playing softly, and all the candles that you own burning. The first sip of your favourite beverage. Mine is red Red Bull. Instant happiness. Smoking out of a nicely cleaned or brand new bong or pipe. When it's winter and all the trees are completely white with frost, even if its cold it’s still absolutely beautiful. MOUNTAINS. Driving around looking at Christmas lights during the week of Christmas, with hot chocolate. City lights at night. The smell of pine tree’s. Drinking coffee and writing poetry Finding your comfortable place in your bed, and just feeling completely warm and at peace. Rolling the perfect joint or blunt, and impressing everyone including yourself. The first time drinking eggnog for the season.(Thanksgiving can’t come soon enough) The first warm day after a cold, long winter. Seeing your first flower of spring blossoming in your garden. Laying in a hammock on a warm summer day, just zoned out watching how the sun finds its way through the think leaves. Golden hour in general, the way it makes the whole world look like its being filtered like on my phone. Bonus greatness if you’re wearing sunglasses during it. Doing something to improve a strangers day, be it a smile, extra parking minutes, anything to make them feel good.

Seven Things I've Learned Since Becoming an 'Adult'
Before I start writing about my "seven things" I would just like to say, without hesitation, 10-year-old me (the innocent little sh*thead) took being young for granted, walking around thinking becoming older was somehow going to make me cooler. Somehow, I would magically make all kinds of money, which at the time, some change from my grandma's purse seemed like a LOT to me. (Silly little naive girl) That my life would be prodigious, full of new adventures, surrounded by friends. Instead, the highlight of my day could be anything from getting new soap to taking a much needed nap. If I could travel anywhere in time... for any reason at all, I'd most likely go back in time.... and punch younger me.

Seeking Fulfillment: Acknowledgement, Engagement, and Preciousness
I've spoken many times about dealing with personal stress and unforeseen circumstances in and out of the workplace, dealing with them while in the presence of others, while you're by yourself, and in many other scenarios. Two days ago I got the opportunity to sit down and listen to a few of my peers talk about some of the things that were weighing on their mind like ongoing illnesses, emotional distress or having to leave family and children nearly every day to do what they loved to do for a living; despite all of these difficulties. Our initial exchange dealt with these and also being able to identify the real motivation behind their actions. In doing so and detailing our perspectives, I learned that many of them, if not all, had a misconception about the power of acknowledgement.

Coffee Pot
The smell of coffee brewing in the morning is probably one of my top 5 favorite smells. Something about it is comforting. Coffee and oatmeal cookies is what you'd smell every morning on Catalina Island. You couldn't pass up walking into The Cookie Company once that smell hit you.

Charities
Whom to give to? Everybody wants donations. Church? Private schools? The poor? Those sad-eyed dogs on TV? What is behind some donations? A leg up, perhaps? This is where my world turns black and white. Donating money is serious business for me. I don't have a lot, but when I give—I give with my heart. Donating to private schools and pet projects is all well and good, but these are not what you think of when you hear the word "charity."
