The artist Jacqui Gallon made ‘Aftermath’ during and as part of ‘Becoming Wild’ an immersive two day workshop led by artists Miffy Ryan and myself in the secluded wood that is currently Jacqui’s outside studio / workspace. The workshop was part of the 2022 Taiwanese Artist Intern / Residency programme hosted by Fearon Hall in Loughborough UK, curated by Jacqui Gallon and mentored / envisioned by Professor Ming Turner.

Graffiti On Walls, Messages in Your Art
Screaming: Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. Here I was screaming; screaming and screaming, wanting someone to hear me. Maybe that’s the divine timing of it all, being in a place that you are literally begging for someone, anyone to reach into the delves of your thoughts and save you when its all too much. I felt the pain, the throbbing pain of the rusting blade in my skin. It felt real, it felt harsh. The slow seep of blood trickling down into the bath, making pools of rose-blush water, dancing as it dropped, heavy and yet weightless.

Those years, we missed love
He had been studying abroad for four years, and I overheard that he had been in touch with my best friend Jing Jing to find out my latest developments. But those four years were a nightmare for me, I kept running away every day, avoiding facing the reality of life, always suffering a frightened heart, the whole body, and mind in fear, when I saw again he was already a father.

Every conflict brings you and me closer
Our first conflict came very suddenly, so I was very overwhelmed, obviously just talking well, why you are suddenly unhappy. Although it is not the first time to fall in love, there is no difference, the second time to fall in love I do not have much experience to deal with such unexpected events. You said you were angry because I returned the message with only one word, seems very cold, but I will think, obviously I sent a message you do not return more excessive ah. But I didn't say that, my few emotional intelligence told me that this is the time to coax you, not the time to reason, so I chose to apologize, even though I didn't reply one word at a time, even though I thought it would be more excessive for you not to return the message.

Long distance
In front of life, love seems so fragile, and we are so helpless. I was happy to have planned with my boyfriend to go on a trip once the Dragon Boat Festival was over. But it was hard to splash a pot of cold water. It's not that the travel plan went down the drain, but just after the tour, we have to be in different places.

A Maple Leaf
When I opened the title page of the notebook, the maple leaf came into my eyes. The maple leaf is dried up, but the color is still yellow and red. For 43 years, I have been looking at the maple leaf almost once a day. Whenever I look at that maple leaf, Fang Jun's youthful and beautiful face emerges from that maple leaf.

Confession
When I met you, I realized what love at first sight means. Although I don't have any capital or power to protect you. But it's not easy to meet you. So I can't let you be lost in my world. I am just a plain person, but I have a dream to hold you in my arms. No matter how difficult the road is in the future, I want to protect you, as my other half, okay? Although you can not enjoy the glory and wealth, I will let you enjoy it, others can not get the happiness. As a bland person, there is no sweet talk. But I have a burning heart. I will put everything down for you, I will love you well, met you in this place, is destiny, but can not be in this place once again lost you.

Love is a tree that needs to be cared for and watered with our hearts. The sea of people is vast, looking for, what are we pursuing? It is in pursuit of a true heart. In this world, there are things that money cannot buy. A true heart between people, can not be bought. People spend their whole life pursuing, is also the pursuit of a true heart. When we meet a person who treats us with sincerity, we must treat him with a heart.

Spring Snow

The voice of the heart
People have a voice of the heart, and sometimes we say things we don't want to say to save face. Sometimes we do something wrong ourselves, but we don't feel wrong at the time and have to be stubbornly wrong to the end, perhaps paying a terrible price to realize it was wrong. With time, and then think of that thing, will not avoid suspicion, in front of others to say they were wrong. This is a true gentleman, who can know that they did wrong, the heart of the listener will also feel warm, wrong is wrong.
