Twin Peaks 2017: MIKE and the Magician Theory
In a show that is built on the intrigue of mysteries, the nature of MIKE and his significance in Twin Peaks has long been one of its most confounding. Is he a spirit of some kind, like BOB? How is he connected to The Man from Another Place, who is referred to as The Arm? Why do they sometimes appear together, but sometimes separately? What are his motivations - his actions don't obviously help or hinder Cooper (or Laura)? Could trying to understand his true nature be key to other Twin Peaks mysteries, such as the doppelgangers?

The Medusa Model 47
Be honest, you've got a zombie survival plan. Even if you aren't one of those doomsday preppers, or a fan of The Walking Dead, you've had this discussion with friends or co-workers at some point. From barricading yourself into Wal-Mart, to making a break for your cabin in the woods where isolation will protect you from the shambling hordes, everyone has their own idea of what they'll do to avoid becoming the Monday special on the zombie buffet.

Interview with Craig Munro, Author of 'The Bones of the Past'
"Many fantasy tropes were slain and harmed in the making of this book." This is just one of the early accolades extended to author Craig A. Munro in anticipation of his debut novel The Bones of the Past, the first in his epic fantasy series "The Books of Dust and Bone." In fact, the slaying and harming of convention is par for the course for jack-of-all trades Munro, who's residences have spanned everywhere from his hometown of Ottawa, Canada to Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East, and who's vocations are just as varied. Among a number of other fields, the newly-minted novelist has work experience in government, construction and molecular biology under his belt.

Interview With Jennifer Camper, Host of the Queers & Comics Convention
As is the case with many social movements globally and throughout history, art–and in this case comic art–is a key element of LGBTQ culture and one of the most effective mechanisms for social commentary, critique and progress. It is in this very spirit that cartoonist and graphic artist Jennifer Camper and her co-organizers put together the inauguralQueers & Comics Conference in 2015. To put this in context, until as late as 1989 the Comics Code Authority had banned any mention of homosexuality in comics, forbidding gay characters, themes or even subtle references in dialogue. Even in the years following, queer comics were relegated to the underground comic world, where the niche content gained traction and an impassioned following until it spawned a genre unto itself. You need only look at the presence of queer comic book characters like Supergirl to understand that queer comics is underground no longer.

Goodnight, "Dave's Mom"
A late night talk show seems an unlikely place for homespun Indiana humor, yet it was the place where the most famous of late night show moms, Dorothy Mengering, became an unwitting star. Dorothy Mengering was better known as David Letterman's mom, not mother. Mengering passed away April 11, just one day before her son's 70th birthday, at 95.

'Beauty and the Beast' A Delight, But What About Those Stereotypes?
There is no question about the quality of Beauty and the Beast, regardless of whether you watch the animated or the live action version of the film. The films are both visually stunning, and the music is gorgeous. Emma Watson as Belle also has a surprisingly good singing voice, and Dan Stevens makes the most of acting through a heavy layer of makeup. In all, the new film is in many ways on par with the 1991 animated one.

New TV Adaptation of His Dark Materials Arriving This Year
BBC One is joining forces with New Line and Bad Wolf Productions, the very talented Julie Gardner and Jane Tranter, to create an eight-part TV event of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials Book Trilogy. (You may recognize these two as former producers of Doctor Who.) His Dark Materials are often better known as The Golden Compass, (or Northern Lights if you’re from the UK) The subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass. Although this was originally announced in 2015, the mini-series has been gaming headway with the announcement of a sequel to the much-loved trilogy. While Harry Potter & The Cursed Child brought a new range of readers to the Potterverse, this TV adaptation is sure to garner more fans for His Dark Materials.

7 Superhero Movies Coming Out in 2017
Throughout 2016, all I heard when discussing movies was "Hollywood only makes superhero movies" and while I understand six different superhero movies were made in the year alone, I frankly don't care. I loved all the superhero movies that came out in 2016, some more than others (don't try to convince me the Martha thing wasn't stupid.) I'm super excited for the upcoming year, so here's your complete guide to all the superhero movies coming out in 2017, better known as, the only reason I ever go to a theater anymore.

Why Is it Okay to Kill in Marvel Movies?
Killing in comics has always been a controversial subject. Killing is what can separate a hero from a vigilante. If there is a hero who kills his enemies the question almost always arises, what makes this hero better than the villains he killed? So let’s figure out which superheroes kill and why we consider it okay. Since there are so many comic books and overlapping universes, I’ll focus only on the Marvel movies.
