'To Live And Die In LA': A Passionate Defence For A Film I Fear May One Day Be Lost In Time.
Is it peculiar to yearn for a home I have never been? A place home to millions, but one I have seldom travelled closer than 5,000 miles to even its furthest perimeters. A Walter Mitty-like reality where I find myself amongst a city that’s culture and art of storytelling are so core to its foundations. So fundamental that, if it were a living entity, cinema would be the blood that pumps its sentimental heart. Los Angeles. And, to me, an outsider with the tutor of cinema guiding my perception – there are two LA’s. A Jekyll and Hyde of cinematic interpretation. Two worlds, universes apart, which simultaneously live side by side within the same sun-soaked town I have always dreamed of calling home. One world drenched in a lustful affair with the forces of nostalgia, whilst the other teasing a dirtier underbelly. A dream standing side by side with a nightmare. The latter, as I will go on to argue with fierce vehemence, captured with magnetically morbid splendour in 1985’s ‘To Live And die In LA’. A film, I wholeheartedly consider a perfect accompanying piece to others of its nature – alike ‘Heat’, ten years later.

Must Watch Netflix Hidden Gems
I spent the majority of my nights recently, thinking, what in the hell am I doing at 4 am in the morning, watching this show, and why in the world can I not stop! Jesus Christ! These shows I've been watching are addictive level 100 and I've had my own theories on the science behind what made these shows so binge-worthy, and exactly why you should get hooked on them as well.

Magic and Youth
Almost everyone is a fan of Harry Potter. I, myself, have a passion for the entire franchise that has run inside me deeply for most of my life. I have an entirely Harry Potter themed kitchen so I can be surrounded by my favorite things while I magically create large feasts for our family of six. We have one child in each Hogwarts House, which creates point competitions among the students.

Witchcraft and Wizardry for Adults
(contains mild spoilers) Do you love Harry Potter but aren't so keen on JK Rowling's not-so-subtle transphobia? Wish Hogwarts offered more diversity than an Asian character named Cho Chang (really?) and a Black character with two lines?

A Dog Could Have Won the First Academy Award
With this year's Academy Awards coming up, it's been a wild and unpredictable awards season thus far, which is a feat considering how predictable the Oscars tend to be year after year, with a few notable exceptions (looking at you Parasite). But what if I were to tell you that the Oscars used to be so unpredictable that they could have given their first award to a German Shepherd dog? It's not that simple, so maybe let's go back to the beginning.

Disney Plus: Redesigning the World of Marvel
While last year, we got the gem that was the Mandalorian, Disney Plus, which has been revolutionizing the way we look at Marvel. For years we have gotten film after film of an interlocking story that eventually led to Thanos snapping his fingers and destroying half of the world, including its heroes. We have been given great wonders and heroes and heroines to look up to. Even faces we never expected to be depicted on the screen. I don’t think anyone could have expected Marvel’s second phase to be better than the first, with the loss of the three members that put the Avengers on the map. Tony Stark, Captain America, and Black Widow were legendary heroes, and it could be argued that while they saved a lot of the world, they were also flawed individuals. We have waited almost three years, if not longer for The Black Widow’s solo story, that we still haven’t gotten. We all watched her fall to her death, and we know that we will see more about her in the future Hawkeye film, but I don’t think anyone was fully ready for WandaVision.

Sequels That Are Surprisingly Better Than The Original.
Occasionally, and I mean very occasionally, a sequel movie can oushine it's predecessor and wiggle it's way into our hearts. Some of the films on this list will be expected, some will be a little out there but stay with me.

The Subs vs Dubs War
Subs vs dubs. This has to be the most gatekeeping thing that has happened in the Anime community. I am so sick of scrolling through my various Anime, nerd and geek groups on Facebook and seeing the smug attitudes of the subbed Anime viewers. I almost see them like Boa Handcock from "One Piece." Their heads thrown back so much to look down on dub viewers that they're looking to the sky and it looks as if they would break their backs. Its not their superiority that bugs me the most, though; it's the lack of ability to think of WHY others may prefer Dubs to Subs. Most subbed watchers seem to have next to no empathy for the dub watchers in their community.

Indoo Ki Jawani(2020)- Review
Silly comedies with irrational storylines and frivolous scenes have come to the forefront of Bollywood comedies since the early 2000s. As illogical as they are not many would deny they end up being extremely funny too. With films like Bhagam Bhag, Garam Masala, Hera Pheri, Bheja Fry, Golmaal are some of these well-known comedies that will be cherished for years to come. But very few films in recent times have been able to replicate these films' content or even their success. With Indoo Ki Jawani Netflix is attempting to do just this.

The winners of the Golden Globe 2021 in the name of politically correct, but it is the art that pays the price
The Golden Globe Awards took place in Los Angeles, in full it was "politically correct", and most of the victories went to women and artists of color, with very few exceptions (The Crown, Borat). Let's see them in detail. The most coveted award goes to a woman in a film about women: Chloé Zhao in the play “Nomadland” starring Frances Mcdormand. The Best Actress Award goes to Andra Day, African American interpreter, for "United States Vs. Billie Holiday", which wins competition from Carey Mulligan and the beautiful Vanessa Kirby, western and white, in "Pieces of a Woman".
