Netflix Is Turning Gerard Way's 'Umbrella Academy' into a Show
With the success of Castlevania, which recently premiered on Netflix last Friday, the company has announced they are about to have another show hitting the air. The company has announced that they will be picking up the Dark Horse Comics series called The Umbrella Academy, which is a rather dark, twisted, and slightly comical take on the superhero genre. It's a series that was able to garnish critical appraise when it launched and shortly after took home an Eisner award (this is the comic-book version of the Oscars).

It's an Anti-Matter of Fact: James Gunn Reveals Which Fox Character He Wanted for 'Guardians of the Galaxy'
Somewhere out there, there is an alternate reality where everyone can be friends and Fox and Marvel can put their differences aside. However, in the meantime we are locked in a bitter (Infinity) war where you can't say the name Reed Richards without causing a (Sue) Storm in a teacup. Thanks to a bitter dispute about who owns which characters, we are left with two Quicksilvers, minimal X-Men in Deadpool, and why people are unsure how you can have a Spider-Man-less Venom movie.

American Patriotism In Comics: The Good, The Bad And The Indifferent
July 4th, Independence Day, is without a doubt one of the most fervently upheld days in American society. Sure, it's been slurred and has faced a backlash in recent years because of the actions of certain individuals, yet the tradition remains that the Fourth of July is a day to celebrate our country's freedom and sovereignty. Americans celebrate this idea by drinking beer, waving flags, shooting guns, shooting fireworks, celebrating with family, and visiting memorials to honor those who have fallen in war. However, patriotism isn't confined to simply our American culture, it's something that has permeated nearly every aspect of American entertainment.

The Importance of Daredevil to the History of the Marvel Universe
Daredevil is a character that, more often than not, has been overlooked by newer fans as a minor player in the grand scheme of the Marvel comics universe. Some of that blame falls on the failed movie in 2003 (I know I try to wipe it from my memory), and some of the blame falls on a shifting culture that wants to see characters that don’t carry such a dark atmosphere about them; Marvel has tended to steer the bulk of its properties away from the dark and gritty stories until the Netflix branch of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was launched.
