A Beginner's Guide to 5 Food and Wine Pairings
If you're anything like me, your love of food started early. My parents were never the type to do any type of meal planning, but there was never a shortage of creative cooking in our household. My father liked to experiment with the limited ingredients he could get his hands on in rural Newfoundland and Labrador where we lived, in the center of a cold island on the North-East coast of Canada. My mother made us pancakes and blueberry sauce, fried tomatoes with our breakfast, and considered toast with tea to be a cure for anything that ails you. What passed for a fancy meal or an adventurous ingredient when I was young may seem laughable to me now, but at the time I accepted fruit and yogurt in a wine glass, topped with chocolate shavings, as the very definition of gourmet.

Homemade Mountain Dew Ice Cream
We have all seen those wild, wacky, or even downright odd recipes on Facebook or Youtube, and I am sure that most of us have wondered whether or not those recipes are actually good. That's what I am here to do, I will be testing these recipes and documenting the results. That way you can know if the recipe is worth trying.

How to Make an Omelette That Puts All Others to Shame
The Scenario You rolled out of bed this morning to find yourself abandoned. The wife had taken to kids to soccer practice and left you to fend for yourself. Breakfast is the only word echoing in your skull, and it becomes your only ever-increasing coherent thought. Scratching the sleep out of your eyes, you trudge toward the refrigerator. In the light of the fridge, you wince hard at the spot where the milk jug should be, but only find empty space. You look down to see cheese and ham, and your hopes brighten. However, they are dashed when you find the bag of bread with only the end piece left. You turn your head solemnly over to the stove top and realize that breakfast isn't going to be quick and simple this morning. You are going to have to cook.

Turkey Breakfast Tacos!
Hello my little lovelies! So it is officially the Christmas season and it is the most wonderful time of the year! This is my favorite time of the year because after the year we have had (seriously) and we just need to end it on a good note and its about being with family and I think all of us need that. But anyway one of the most important rituals of Christmas morning is Christmas breakfast. It's a great way to calm everybody down after the frenzy of opening presents. Now my family we just had the usual breakfast: pancakes, eggs, toast, bacon, etc. But over the years I've gotten tired of the usual breakfast (sorry mom!).

Gingerbread Puffed Cookies + Meringue Edible Plating
Of course, you probably know me very well for invading Vocal with my film studies stuff and articles entitled ‘a filmmaker’s guide’. I have often explained that I love to bake as well. Since I was young, I have loved the idea, the creativity and the relaxation of baking different things. I love to make macarons, layer cakes and gingerbread in particular and the activity of it really gets me away from my laptop (where I’m sure you know that I spend most of my life). So, I hope you enjoy me talking about what I bake and why I bake it complete with pictures (if not very good) of me actually baking, my baked goods in the process of being created and when they’re finished. I’m really happy to share this with you. And if you like, you can show me your baking (yes, I spend a lot of time writing, but I also spend a lot of time reading other people’s articles!), I would love to see it. Since I was in school, I was always interested in creating things, whether that be pieces of writing, welding things to make small statues or baking foods and making sweets (candy, if you’re American). I hope you enjoy looking at some of the stuff that has honestly kept me sane, because I seem to be going slightly mad.

A Gluten-Free Chia-Spiced Goat Milk Pumpkin Pie
Do the holidays cause you to feel blue because you suffer from food intolerances and often can not eat all the delicious holiday food? I know the feeling. Dairy and gluten are two of my biggest food intolerances on a long, long list of things I am not supposed to eat. Unfortunately, I am also intolerant to coconut, making finding a dairy substitute hard for me. I was one of the lucky ones though, I can tolerate goat's milk, so that is my go-to for a milk substitute. I am thankful I found it. If you have a milk allergy, you may not be able to tolerate goat’s milk. If that is the case, substitute your favorite dairy-free ingredients.
