Covid Immunity: Follow the Science
Since the beginning of Covid-19, the CDC, WHO, and many scientists and medical doctors have used their expertise to share ways to combat the virus. By now, the whole nation is aware that wearing a mask, washing their hands for 20 seconds, staying six feet away from other people in public locations, and dousing copious amounts of Lysol on their countertops and other surfaces is the way to go. While all these measures are beneficial, how to support and build up your body’s natural immunity to fight against Covid-19 is the one and undoubtedly most important way to prevent and fight against the virus but has been refrained from discussion.

Peanut Butter Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal Cookies
There are times, in every household kitchen, when you are left with the bare minimum. It's usually a box of pasta with no sauce or cheese to go with, a package of ramen, some lentils or rice, and chicken bouillon cubes. But you want something sweet. You don't have much but you do have the basics to make the foundation of a cookie, flour, sugar, baking soda and baking powder, salt, butter, in my case, egg replacer, and some instant oatmeal packets. You remember the articles you read on how instant oatmeal packets aren't the greatest choice to substitute in an oatmeal raisin cookie, but you are willing to defy the odds. It's not for anyone but you so if they turn out badly the trash can will have a nice companion. Without measuring you go to work. You get your bowls all ready. Mix everything together, preheat the oven to 350 degrees, fill two baking sheets and bake for 11-13 minutes. Et Voilà! A new creation you can be proud of and share with others.

Chicken Chili in the Style of Cholent and We Make Kimchi
CHOLENT? Cholent, a traditional Jewish "overnight" stew, is traditionally started on Friday afternoon and allowed to cook overnight...thus fulfilling the Mitzvaot (command) against lighting a fire on Shabbat. Charlene and I fell in love with the hearty, thick stew. This is an easy dish to create...and I happen to have barley, but alas there are no ribs. The weather is perfect, slow cooker ease....

Vegan Corn Chowder
Creamed corn was a staple in our pantry growing up. My mom loved to make corn chowder out of it, or use it as a sauce for chicken, vegetables or rice. I remember when I tried to go vegetarian in high school, my mom would just feed me creamed corn. It’s funny looking back to those days and remembering how limiting I thought not eating meat was.

Pumpkin Gnocci with Sage Nutmeg Butter
Hello, my name is Pyxy, and ... I cannot stand pumpkin lattes. There! I said it! Don't get me wrong - I <3 pumpkin, just not in my coffee. I admit I fell for the hype and ordered a pumpkin latte when out with friends - last fall, not this year for obvious reasons. And the verdict?

Cashew Chicken
Eating out and being on a gluten-free diet can be frustrating sometimes. Some restaurants still seem to think that providing a gluten-free option means they can only use salt and pepper and usually the sauces are left off dishes that need them leaving them very bland and not appealing when you look around at the amazing looking food on other people's plates. One restaurant I visited, and have not been back, told me that for gluten-free I cold have an unseasoned steamed chicken breast and a dry salad. And it was the same price as the full meal. So, you learn to cook because one can only have so much dry salad - seriously who can't mix oil and vinegar?

Making your first Pie
When it comes to dessert you can choose from just about anything. Cakes, brownies, ice-cream, cookies, lemon bars, tarts, and of course, pie. Traditional, American Thanksgiving often has more than one pie option to choose from, to satisfy taste, seasonal availability of making from scratch, and allergy restrictions.

You Don’t Know What a Purple Hull Pea Is — Poor Thing
Purple Hull, Crowder, Black Eyed, and Cream peas are coveted items during the southern states' gardening season. When paired with potato salad with a touch of mustard and garlic and garnished with fresh onion and tomatoes, there is no finer eating.
