It took me 19 years to find my hero
Almost my whole life I grew up in a toxic household. Once I turned 5 years old all my parents did was argue. Since I was still little they tried to do it secretly but I knew what was going on. Trying to keep it a secret didn't last long though. As I got older I ended up always being brought into the arguments and was forced to basically take sides. I was closer with my mom at the time so I usually always took her side even if she was in the wrong. Then about a month after a turned 17 my dad had finally had enough. I came home one night from work and he was just gone. I barely ever saw him after that. Here's the thing though now two years later I understand and I don't blame him for what he did. After he left I started to realize what all he was truly dealing with because then I started having to deal with it. This pushed a really big wedge between my mom and I. I got to a point where I felt no one was ever going to love me because my own family didn't even love me. Granite they probably still did but in my eyes they didn't because my dad left and barely saw me anymore and my mom always seemed to take her anger out on me so for the longest time I thought I was going to grow up and die alone. All that changed when I went on a tinder date and it changed my life. Yes you heard correctly I found my soulmate off of tinder. We started moving things kind of quickly but I wouldn't change it for anything because it has made me the better person I am today. We got our 1st apartment after 4 months of being together and then we ended up pregnant 5 days after moving in. During my pregnancy I got really bad depression to where they wanted to put me on medication after I gave birth. I'm not on medication now and do you want to know why? The moment my son came out and I held him in my arms all those feelings went away. That was how I knew my son was my true hero. People say I'm too young to have him and yes I am young but I knew what I was doing and I don't regret a thing. My son saved me and he will continue to save me. The endless love and affection that I craved growing up he gives me or the fact that I know he will never leave me. Now I know I can say the same thing about my boyfriend because I know we will be together forever. It just feels so different when that love comes from someone you created. Do you guys know the saying "if a mother has a daughter for their first child they needed to mature and if they have a son they needed to know the true meaning of love." Well I'm here to tell you I'm starting to believe that saying is true because yes being a mother is hard but I know all my moms would agree with me that there is no better feeling than being cuddled up with your kids knowing they will love you forever. That is why as of November 12, 2021 6:07 pm I was saved by my hero and I can't wait to see in the next few years how he continues to keep saving me.

There’s some part of me that knows that these cookie cutters are Mama’s. Why does she have Mama’s special cookie cutters I wonder. They are a deep copper color and Mama got them from her mama who got them from her mama. For 11 and a half months out of the year, they’re stored in worn gallon sized baggies with zipper seals. The bags feel rough on my little fingers, but Mama says they don’t need to be replaced yet. When they cascade out of the bags, they play a chorus of music that sounds like their own Christmas carol as they crash onto the wooden table. Maggie’s fingers and mine grasp and reach for our favorite shapes. Mama tells us that we need to cut out the big shapes on the gingerbread dough first, as she nibbles a morsel. So Maggie and I press the big giant angel; her wings are the span of my palm. “Press down firmly,” she instructs, placing her soft palm onto ours. It hurts for a moment, but when we release we can see the shape of the angel. Delicately, Mama scoops the angel onto the cookie pan. Maggie is in her corner, pressing the cut out of holiday bells into one corner. When we’ve done all our little hearts can, Mama balls up the dough and rolls it out again. Maggie and I nibble on the cookie dough giggling while singing, “Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!” So why does the woman have Mama’s cutters?

Postpartum anxiety
I have never been diagnosed with anxiety but I've always thought I had it. Then reading you can develop postpartum anxiety I strongly believe I have it. Ever since I had my baby things have changed big time. Driving, going places and even just everyday things feel so different. Let's start with when I'm driving. When he is is the car with me I always feel like cars are going to hit us. I feel this way so strongly that I change lanes when a car is near me. For the first month I always had him in the car with me when I went somewhere so I thought it was only because I had him with me but now that I'm back to work I still have this problem when I drive alone. I guess when I'm alone I get worried something will happen to me and he will grow up without a mom. When we go out I get worried someone will take him or try and hurt me while I'm bent over trying to get him out of the car. When it's dark I have these same emotions with the added fact I feel I'll get robbed because I know moms are a big target. Even when we are home alone though I still have issues it's like I can't escape it. When we are home I try to get things done while he is sleeping but everytime I start to do something I always seem to hear him cry. He never is though! Even when my boyfriend is home and I know the baby is in safe hands while I take a shower all I hear is him screaming at the top of his lungs but yet again he never is. I never realized being a mom is hard. It's not the mom part that's hard though it's all the different problems we can develop after giving birth. We can even develop them while we are pregnant. I ended up developing depression while I was pregnant so when they gave me the depression test at the hospital they wanted to put me on meds. After I had my baby though and saw how my boyfriend was with him everything went back to normal. I think I developed it because people don't realize even if everyone is around you that it's still possible to feel alone. That was my problem I was always with my boyfriend but yet I always felt alone and it felt terrible. I had never felt like that before and I never understood why I did. I did some research and found out being pregnant reallt does change so much with your body. That made me realize it was normal and a lot of moms go through the same thing. It made me feel a lot better. The only thing I regret is not talking to anyone about it and just trying to deal with it on my own. That's why now that I think I have postpartum anxiety I made sure I talked to someone. I talked to a couple family members and they think I should go see a professional. I didn't really like this advice because I don't want to be put on meds. There is nothing wrong with that but for me I get worried it will make me someone I don't like. I have finally found happiness with myself and I don't want to change that or lose the person I have finally grown to love. It's a hard desison but everyone has to write their own story.
