Knights
A knock on the door could have changed everything. We would not be in this place if we weren’t boneheaded children… These thoughts raced through Malcolm’s mind as he stood at the iron gateway to his father’s estate. While enduring his trials, Malcolm had nearly forgotten what life was like at home. It had already been a year, but the heavenly scent of his mother’s nearby flower gardens made the months that passed feel like minutes. The hedge that bordered the Uilkin property and the stone path winding to the front door remained unchanged. Even the grass remained the same healthy green from the day Malcolm left. He closed his eyes and pleaded to himself to wake from this nightmare in his old bed, but a hand on his shoulder snapped him back to reality.

The Barn
I sit in the rafters in the barn of the Old Farm contemplating my life. The November wind picks up and whispers between my feathers as it twists in through the cracks of the rotted planks, making the tiniest whistling sounds as I tuck my head further under my wing. Have I been this way for days? For years? For lifetimes even? I wasn’t always like this. Or at least I do not think that I have been. I very often find myself perched in this way, as a bird commonly does, and then, for a split second, I feel my legs buckle and my vision blur, as if I were scared. I look down at the hay-strewn dirt floor of the silent, crumbling building and wonder what it is to fall. Then in an instant, as quickly as the fear comes, it is gone. A faint whiff of a naive memory is all that remains. The mindfulness of a barn owl has never been one written about by scholars, but I am certain that I remember things. Perhaps they are not things from my life, but they belonged to someone. Every morning, as the lavender speckles begin to melt apart from the yellowing sky, as twilight turns into daybreak, I allow myself to succumb to sleep and relive the same dream, skipping over itself like scratched vinyl.

The companion of a Shoe Shine Boy
The aged, demoralised sun surfaces from underneath one of many ash engulfed clouds in the hope of a glance at her world below. The sights which meet her curious gaze are that of depressing soot coated chimneys overcome by a suffocating whirlpool of pollution; the odd washing lines struggling to keep a grip on the crumbling balcony bricks from which it hangs and the microcosm of ant like people that navigate through the tunnelled alleyways which whisper the tales of heated arguments, terrified cries and the secret encounters of business men dealing dodgy wares.

Predator and prey
Zara laughed. It was a glittery, rollicking laugh that bounced off the crystals in her cavernous shop. ‘Treasure Hunt’ was always full of customers and she took pride in the variety of handicrafts she sold. From items that cost a few dollars to the heirloom pieces that had been lovingly restored, there was something for absolutely everyone. It had been featured in tourist magazines and blogs on several occasions, but she always made sure the photographs did not include her.

A God Among Sheep -- The Rise of Maria Salvatore
Had a blast writing this scene out of my new Ultra Low Budget female driven mafia Feature A God Among Sheep -- The Rise of Maria Salvatore, took me a fucking week, and still needs some tightening, but I think it's funny which you need in an otherwise dark and violent script.

The Roseville Massacre
In the small town of Roseville, there was no crime. Everyone knew everyone in town. Locals shopping at the small business. On East Rose Street lived the Thornes. The Thornes were the sweetest family. Mrs. Thorne the local florist, Mr. Thorne, the sheriff of the town, and their daughter Maci. There was something peculiar about her though. As her family would say she has a “figurative imagination” and “night terrors”. That was not the case, Maci was telling the truth. Yet nobody in her family believed her. Her mom would tell her “oh sweet Maci, it was just a bad dream”. This all started on a horrifying day. Maci was walking around the woods. She was enjoying the scenery. The smell of pine swirled around her. The Autumn leaves floating to the ground. Then that euphoria came to a halting stop. She noticed a hand sticking out of the leaves. The bright-colored leaves that used to bring her joy now brought her horror. She was in such shock she did not know what to do. The town that is known for no crime is becoming the opposite. She stood there speechless. Not knowing rather run or scream. She tried walking back home telling her everything will be alright. Her hands were shaking with anxiety. She got home and tried to tell her what happened. Her mom said “it is impossible for crime to lurk around this town. There has not been a crime in over 50 years. The last crime we had was when little Carl Randal stole a pack of gum from the Mr. Howards grocery store. I can not believe you are making this kind of stuff up.” I could not go and tell the police, they would talk to my dad. If my dad heard the news he would say the same thing as my mom. I had no corner to turn to. Nobody to talk to about this heinous crime. There was nothing I could do.

Miscalculated
Joel Ornstein, if that was even his real name, had been following a woman he came to discover was called “Angelina” for the last three months. He had been standing in line at the bank when a teller opened a new window, and in the rush to be first, had run straight into her. Her beauty had flashed at him in an angry grimace as she looked at him, and Joel had apologized and politely motioned for her to go ahead of him. Joel had trailed her from the bank and discovered she was a yoga instructor at a nearby studio. He had been watching her there for over a month before following her home one night at a great distance. He was pleased to discover she lived within walking distance from her studio. After determining where she lived, he had gone back home, and the next morning, after he watched her enter the studio and start her first class, he made his way back to her home.
