Dream Date?
My mother reminds me regularly that I’m getting older and can’t afford to be so picky when it comes to a life partner. “You’ll end up on the shelf”. Of course I know what she means but I’m always tempted to remark, “Shelf, what shelf? Is it solid wood, veneer or plastic?”

I saw You in a Dream Be Like Me
I am very cautious when I hear people tell me that I dream of you. After, this story maybe you will understand my experience. Well I met my spiritual mom as I was working at my second job. We started sharing our experiences with each other. I would talk to her on the phone often. Then one day was different she said she had to share something with me and as I sat on my mom’s floor about a local pastor being her husband. I told her who I thought he was. She was surprised that I knew and from that day I became her witness to share with her the things I saw and knew about this relationship.

Fire Pants
Fire Pants You, my friends, are LIARS! Don’t get offended or too hasty, because I did call you my friends first. I’m a LIAR TOO! We all are. Our parents lied, our grandparents lied and our kids will follow suit. Our leaders, politicians, and preachers all lie. The billboards, the banks, and everything on the News. Our Businesses, the scientists, and even your boss too! ALL LIARS! If anyone has ever told you that they don't lie, it is a lie! This is not to pass judgement on anyone. I can assure you that my “liar-pants” have been on fire for 36 years. No, this is more of a cordial invite to a dinner party. The main course: TRUTH sirloin marinated in homemade LIES with a side of GOSPEL gravy. It can be a little tough to chew at times, but we still cook it to perfection. No need to R.S.V.P., because it's cooked in your own kitchen.

I Read My Boyfriend’s Messages and Never Told Him. Top Story - March 2021.
When I first met my boyfriend, we became acquainted in a dimly lit room at Diva Haunt. Diva Haunt is a sectioned up haunted house that we both inadvertently decided to volunteer at for fun. The building was an old ballerina studio, so it was already a little creepy on its own. He was 28 and I was 22 at the time. I didn’t really find this age difference a problem.

Emptying The Tank. Top Story - March 2021.
I don't often dream, but when I do, I'm either being brutally murdered by a family member or doing something dreadfully mundane like going to the bathroom. Believe it or not, the bathroom dreams are the scariest. Everything else can be discounted as fantasy and fiction, but these, the ones when I envision myself doing things that I regularly do, seem real and visceral. Like the lines between our world and the dream world are temporarily blurred, and I lose the ability to distinguish between the two. These dreams plagued me periodically throughout childhood. There was always this overwhelming sensation of wakefulness.

I Stole Cold Cuts From Publix & I Still Regret It
At eighteen, I was kicked out of my dad’s house. He’s emotionally abusive and refused to allow me to have any freedom, whether it was visiting my new boyfriend or whether it was just staying in my dorm at college that weekend. He has Borderline Personality Disorder, so I try not to hold it against him. Either way, it came to a head one weekend. I told him I was going to meet my boyfriend at Jaxson’s ice cream parlor in Fort Lauderdale and he freaked out on me.

I Removed the Shoulder Pads From My Mom's Jackets - But Blamed It On My Sister
Shoulder pads were invented in the 1930's and I grew up in the 1990's. But my mom was a really petite woman. She was less than 5 feet tall and naturally had a very thin figure. She also never spent money on herself, especially clothes, so she was still rocking the 80's style of beefed up shoulder pads on all of her work suits and even on her casual t-shirts. I was just a kid and I thought they looked pretty goofy.

I "Stole" Clothes When I Worked at a Re-Sale Clothing Shop
Summers in small-town Louisiana were hot and long. I was in grad school, and even though I didn’t need a whole lot of money to survive, I didn’t want to sit around sweating without anything to do. So, I got a job at a re-sale shop.

The Time I Fell Asleep in my Exam Hall (and snored).. Top Story - March 2021.
Secondary school is something of a distant memory for me now but there is one memory that I doubt I'll ever forget, no matter how much I try to. Looking back I can laugh, but it was a different story in the moment. Just over two years ago, I was 15 years old, fresh off a week long stint of musical performances as the lead in our schools 'Grease' and trying, hopelessly, to keep up with the schoolwork being thrown at me. Being thrown into a completely new friend group after my school year was split in half would've been awkward enough on its own without a gruelling rehearsal schedule for a show that ended up finishing the same week as my Christmas exams.

I Blamed My Brothers so I Could Watch Rugrats. Top Story - March 2021.
I was not always the sweet little girl that my father thought that I was or wanted me to be. He was always busy doing the single parent thing, so we kids were home alone a little more than might have been good. We would get home from school about 3:00pm and he would pull in an hour or two later. If there was an emergency, there was always someone home next door, so we weren’t exactly the typical latch-key kids.

My husband and I never shut each other out of the bedroom
"When I came home last night, you wouldn't make love to me." This is the opening line of the 1981 Rick James hit Give It to Me Baby. The sentiment of a woman withholding sex is a part of the fabric of many relationships.
