Some Assembly Required
“Well, that was dramatic,” he thought. Here he was, in the middle of a winter wonderland with very little understanding of the language of this country in a car that just failed him as the day turned to night. Michael had been in the country for just under a week and had met all of his contacts except one, and he had been on his way to speak to the last one that very afternoon. He had noted how quickly the darkness settled after 4 pm, but he thought that he would have made it. Michael also thought that the car borrowed from the rental agency would also last. There had been no sign of damage or loss of power. To put it simply, he had run out of gas and was now wondering what to do next.

Another Book...
And here comes something for the season... I have decided to put out an electronic edition of 'A Techno Carol,' just in time for the holiday season. I know that some of you have read this story here on Vocal, but I think that there might be a larger market for a story about a boy not appreciating a very expensive gift, and then being forced to learn the true meaning of gift-giving.

Our Old Story. Top Story - December 2025.
She reached for it… But she had one final thing to say first… “Darling, I know that this is probably the absolute worst moment to end things with a speech, but the doctors say that you will not remember this tomorrow, and I have so much that I still want to tell you before I leave. Christmas Wishing
Here's a link to the Challenge: Dear Satan Santa, I have been a good boy, but I wonder if that is enough in the climate we live in. I want so many things, and I am not sure if you can get them for me. I would like to have more things for my family and myself. We deserve to be released from all of our obligations, despite the contract we signed.

The Day the Train Went Backwards
Yes, the latest train line is named after one of my favourite 80s indie rock groups. Yes, I have already written about it from the opening of its second line. And yes, it has spoiled me to the point that I have avoided the metro more often than is healthy.

Five for Five?
1. Patricia and the schoolyard: I first saw her at Our Lady of Perpetual Agony when we were both about begin Grade One. Ms. Pappercock was a kind lady, and she looked upon me with some favour when she saw how well I could keep my handwriting within the lines of the notebooks she handed out. And that might have been the reason why she put Patricia next to me in the classroom after the first month passed. A lot of people thought this was odd, but I remembered that she organized the class according to the grades we received. Patricia and I (I mean, “me”) were both near the front of the class. Not quite Straight-A Sweeties – Ms. P.’s course – but pretty close. But the year was long, and there was a lot we could do to get those front seats.

Some Notes for the Project
Memo to Self: The following notes were found at the building site after a search was conducted by the replacement crew. No sign of the original workers hired is available except for the notebook discovered and recorded here. We will keep searching to see if we can discover what happened. And the notes might provide some sort of clue as to what went down. The owner of the original site cannot be contacted and we still have work to complete.
