the water stain kept growing. I pretended not to see. too costly.
swift as wind to catch prey; too slow for the wildfire. not made for Man’s crimes.
push into the dirt. feel Earth pulse back, answer to your lonely question.
had to burn the note I wrote; they said I’d be free- instead, I, the smoke.
water in the womb, cradled me into the world. wish I could go back.
earthy voice and eyes of fire. gentle water-touch, then, like the wind, gone.
she had set fires ever since she learned to wield the pen her mom gave.
say you’ll howl with me. mingle your rage with mine and we’ll both tell the moon.
coward puppeteer, you fanned the flames and watched, safe. the rest of us burned.
