Grief can strike at any moment
I am finding that since my husband passed away that writing about aspects my experiences is the best therapy. I can share what I am dealing with and hopefully help someone else who may find themselves in this unfortunate situation. I have been blessed to have people calling and checking on me and my daughter and grandchildren spending extra time with me. I know that there are benefits to counseling sessions but I also must face a harsh reality. There will be moments when the pain of grief will randomly show its ugly head and all I will be able to do is bear it.

Pictures are indeed worth a thousand words.
I met my husband in April of 1976 when he was 18 and I was 17. I was tired of guys always teasing me about being skinny and yet on the flip side trying to get into my pants. I was harassed constantly for being a virgin and told that I was "scared." This only made me more determined to find someone who appreciated me for not giving it away. When I met Michael Preston he shared that he had already had 2 girlfriends who had babies that were not his and he was looking for a girl who had not given it away to every guy and who would be faithful.

The silent heartbreak from divorce
I was going through my Facebook page and looking at pictures of my husband and myself. These give me comfort as he passed away recently. I also noticed photos of my daughter and her husband when they were very young and a realization came to mind. If I share my photos from time to time this will be accepted because I am a widow. Those who divorced through no fault of their own are expected to move on and act like the past never happened. If my daughter or any other divorcee continued to share photos of themselves with an ex, people would think they were crazy but their past is as valid as that of those whose spouse has passed away.

Fun facts about April
April is the 4th month on our calendar is the season of spring. Hibernating small animals are waking up at this time and there are 2 celebrations that often but don’t always take place in this month. Easter is always the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Spring Equinox on March 21. It can arrive in late March or early to mid April. Passover is determined by the Jewish lunar calendar and like Easter can show up in either the second or 3rd month of the year. In the movie Seven Brides for Seven Brothers it was in the month of April when the birds, bees, and barnyard animals began coming to life as the snow on the mountain melted.

Why widows sense their deceased husband’s presence
Forst of all let me clarify my position. This article is not about seeing ghosts or spirits or hearing voices. It’s not regarding doors banging or thinking your deceased spouse is trying to make contact. I believe that once an individual’s spirit leaves his or her body, they are in eternity and don’t have permission to return to the earth. I do not negate anyone’s personal experience but share mine in order to help someone else. Let me also add that until you have walked in the shoes of an individual whose husband or wife has passed there is no way for you to understand why they feel as they do.

Cremation facts you might not be aware of
A Cremation is a method of disposal of a dead body and there are quite a few misconceptions associated with this method. Cremation dates back at least 17,000 years according to archaeological records of the Mungo Lady. These were the remains of a partly cremated female body found at Lake Mungo, Australia. Traditional funeral services have only been available for 150 years yet many people believe it is the other way around. Cremation is becoming more popular as the stigma behind it decreases with every passing year.

Uncommon Knowledge Related to the American Civil War and Slavery
I recently read an article titled "The Confederacy was a con job on whites and still is." You can read it in its entirety by clicking on the link. The information shared gave me a totally different perspective regarding this period of history. This led me to research other aspects of American slavery and the Civil War and I found out something quite interesting. The reality of the Antebellum era is quite different than what most people perceive. The following information brings to light some uncommon knowledge about this nation during the 1800s.
