The complexities of widowhood
Widows of yesteryear wore what was referred to as Widow's weeds. They wore black veils over their faces and were in mourning for whatever was considered a respectable period of time. Dressing in black does not indicate that a woman truly loved or is missing her husband and not wearing black is no indication of the opposite. I wore a white suit with blue blouse to my husband's funeral because he was dressed in a white suit with a blue shirt. This would be the last time our physical bodies would ever dress alike in this world.

The 5 richest men in the world and how they got there.
The average working American is thankful for a yearly salary of 5 figures annually. The richest among us within our society however are billionaires which is a financial status that most of us cannot even consider attaining. One of the most famous billionaires of all time was Howard Hughes who began making his fortune at the age of 18 through his father's oil drilling business. His earnings increased thanks to Hughes Aircraft Company, property in Los Vegas Nevada, RKO Pictures Corporation, and a controlling interest in Trans World Airlines.

Maurice Evans' spectacular character on ‘Bewitched’
Maurice Evans was an English actor who was born in Dorchester, Dorset, United Kingdom. He was best known for portraying Samantha's father, Maurice on the television series Bewitched. He was an urbane thespian, and the only warlock in the House of Lords. Most of the time Maurice made dramatic and exaggerated, entrances and exits by quoting Shakespearean verse. He was the estranged husband of Samantha’s mother Endora and the two had a unique yet humorous dynamic between them. There were threats of divorce but it never took place.

When the tears won’t stop
I recall that in the 1980’s a neighbor had a stroke and died. One of graduation daughters still lived at home and took it pretty hard. For about 6 months on 3 or 4 random occasions this young woman would let out a wail in church and cry. I felt so bad for her and several times I would go and give her a hug. She obviously loved her mother and was heartbroken over her death. I’ve always been one who easily got over death and moved on. This was true of my brother, mother, and grandmother. I loved them but did not have a relationship where their deaths weighed heavily on my mind.

Intimacy is so much more than you may realize
The dictionary defines intimacy as Closeness between people in personal relationships. It's what builds over time as you connect with someone, grow to care about each other, and feel more and more comfortable during your time together. It can include physical or emotional closeness, or even a mix of the two. I take note that the official description does not mention sex but this is what popular society has come to believe.

Billie Burke Glinda the Good Witch actress had an unusual voice during The Wizard of Oz.
If the name Mary William Ethelbert Appleton Burke does not ring a bell, perhaps the name Billie Burke will. She was an actress born on August 7, 1884 and died on May 14, 1970. Her father’s name was William Billy Ethelbert Burke and her mother was Blanche Beaty Burke. There is no record of why she put Appleton in her name. Billy Burke was Blanche’s second husband so perhaps Applebee was her maiden name. “ Bille” was famous in silent and sound films as well as radio and Broadway. She was married only once to Florenz Zigfield Jr.

Aunt Clara from ‘Bewitched’ the life of Marion Lorne
I am enjoying many of my favorite television programs from the 60s and 70’s on streaming services and retro television networks. I recently watched quite a few back to back episodes of Bewitched where the talented Marion Lorne MacDougall was featured as Aunt Clara. Professionally she was known as Marion Lorne and as Aunt Clara was bumbling and fumbling and as a witch. Clara's spells almost always went wrong and she once caused a power outage in 12 Eastern states. She also conjured up the real Ben Franklin and created an actual spotted elephant for her great niece Tabitha when what she was trying to reproduce was a toy stuffed pakaderm.
