'The Predator' Review
I've been a fan of the original Predator movie for a long time. I thought it was clever, fun, and exciting. I was also a little kid when I first saw that movie. I recently re-watched the original movie and realized that there are a few things that didn't translate well into 2018 but overall, I still had a great time watching it. I'm tempted to re-watch Predator 2 because I know I enjoyed Predators which came out a few years ago. Now the latest predator movie comes out. It's called The Predator. I don't know why they have to have such a weird naming convention for these movies but they went and did it anyway. I didn't know what to expect when I saw the newly released The Predator. The trailers made it seem like an all out action movie.

Ottawa: the City That Fun Forgot
It’s often said that Ottawa is the city that fun forgot. I’ve always wondered why. There are a ton of things to do and see every weekend in this city and yet it’s still considered boring. After I started exploring the sites and scenes of the city, I started discover why people consider this city to be boring. I think some of the circumstances come from Ottawa’s city culture and its own reputation.

Having a Totally Original Idea: Is It Possible?
Having a genuinely original idea is extremely hard. My friends have argued to me that having a genuinely original idea nowadays is impossible. Their argument is that yes, new things will continue to pop up here and there but they’re all based on previous ideas. They don't believe that truly original ideas can still exist anymore. I think this is a lazy theory that will restrict their own creative ambitions.

Sons of Anarchy is a story about a family wrapped up in organized crime in a small town. More specifically it’s a biker gang called the Sons of Anarchy. This TV series is based on the character Jax, short for Jackson. He’s the vice president of the biker gang and in line to become president after Clay. Clay is the current president and married to Jax’s mother.

Social Construction of Gender
I wonder what we truly learn and internalize from the media and society. What is naturally innate to us? I’ve talked to people discussing representation in the media. We talk about how certain features on a person are more desirable than others. Is this really the fault of the media and society? I admit that the world has a fascination with western culture; we all gravitate to it. Western culture is the predominant culture with films, books, news, etc. We love western foods, languages, and their physical look.

Athletes Aren't Overpaid
Some athletes in professional sports make millions of dollars in salary and endorsement. When the average person looks at that they think that they’re terribly overpaid. I often hear the same argument: “Why are these people getting paid millions when teachers and police make a fraction of that amount?” The best statement is when they think say that all these athletes do is play a game and get paid for it.

Want to Be Left Alone? Be Careful What You Wish For
A lot of friends my age seem to be closing themselves off from the world. It's a stark contrast of how we were back in our 20s but I understand that life gets in the way. Everyone is busy with family, work, working out, hobbies and other activities. Sometimes these activities can make us lose too much energy for hanging out with friends.

My History with Languages
I have to start off by letting you know I am horrible with languages and always have been. With age I've gained some patience and that has helped me a lot. A few of the reasons why I think I've had problems learning languages is that I don't have great memorization skills and I get confused pretty easily. Luckily I can sometimes be pretty determined to do things.

Legalization of Drugs in Canada
Legalization of marijuana is upon us in Canada. The government has looked into this for years and are trying to safeguard Canadians the best they can of any potential issues like driving impairment and possible medical issues. Nothing is 100%, and I'm sure they're doing the best they can to implement the new laws smoothly.

The Term Artist Is Too General
I've always followed the notion that an artist is someone that creates. So in my mind it didn't matter whether you were a great artist or a horrible artist—if you were creating something I would see you as an artist. I had a terribly narrow view of the world. Everything was black and white. Even considering someone to be a great artist or a horrible artist is incredibly subjective. I believed that the artist term was thrown around indiscriminately. The lines get blurred sometimes when I discovered certain types of artists. I had a skewed vision of what was creating and therefore who I considered an artist was different.

The World Is Filled With Filler
I know this is a bit of a humorous subject, but I see filler everywhere. I see it on YouTube videos, news articles, TV shows, and movies. We even have a 600 word minimum for these articles. It got me to wonder why do we have so much filler, especially when times are moving much faster. Don't we want to get to the point a lot faster? My thoughts about this always come back to school. There's a few points that I want to get to, but how did I get to this subject?
