Briskly, I walk into a fresh chapter as the calendar dives into yet another labeled set of hours, days... months...religiously counting down. Opportunities dwindle and slip away; they wait for no one. Who can blame them when their knocks go unanswered. The mountains we climb in search of that pinnacle of success can never be reached when we hide our thoughts...our voices. Increase the volume, time to be heard. -LDubs

My Writing Journey for 2024
Publish or perish. Although this phrase was birthed by academic writing, I donāt take this aphorism lightly. Writing is a vital component of the humanities, and the humanities endure, defining what it means to be human. Iāve always had a dream of publishing: at first it was a book of poetry, then perhaps a collection of short stories or even a novel. In Shakespeareās Julius Caesar, Mark Antony says, āThe evil that men do lives after them;/The good is oft interrĆØd with their bonesā (Act III scene II). This line resonates with me; I donāt want to be remembered by the mistakes Iāve made in my life or by the mundane or morose anecdotes that may be passed down. After I watched the animated Disney movie Coco, I donāt want to be forgotten by my family.

You can always do a Quick Edit.
Once, not too long ago, I wrote a letter to a politician, which got published on a Substack whose daily newsletter was read by at least several thousand people. Iād written the letter of just under 400 words in a two-day period of self-torment, insomnia, and anxiety. Writing it felt urgent, as all things related to politics are urgent, and, at a time when I feared that the hands of every powerful entity were merging into an autocracy that would slowly suffocate me and everyone else, it felt that if I didnāt write the letter, I would be frozen in historyās textbook of disappointments. It was one of those especially heightened times.

To the ones January has not been kind to
To the ones January has not been kind to Hey there stranger, I hope you realize how amazing you are and how beautiful the world is because of you in it. This one is for you if January has not been kind to you. I know right now all you feel is how the darkness that surrounds knows no end, and the light that you are so desperately and intently searching for seems to lose its way in the dreariness of despair. I know all you long right now is a moment of peace and this month has constantly put you on the edge of your sanity. January has not been your month, all it has done is test your strength and remind you that you need to keep it all together. Life in its entirety has plonked you into the land of uncertainty, and all you yearn for is to be lost in a land where you cannot be found, only to be rescued with the warmth of love and a warm cup of coffee.
