Anemoia - Nostalgia for a time or a place one has never known
I have always lived my life with half a heart . As if I gave up the other half a long time ago somewhere I can't even remember .. Was it somewhere ? Someone ? Or even something ? Uhhhh I'm not sure.

Tunnel Vision
I had this fleeting thought when I was sitting at my go to cafe sipping my coffee wannabe since I only order half the espresso shot and a huge cup of milk to overpower how it tastes trying to get some work done .. What spiked the idea was (not to your surprise) if you’re a regular guest here is Absolutely music . I had my airpods on and shuffled through spotify to find the right song for the moment because the people chatters was louder than the speakers on , it wasn’t until I paused for a sec that I heard “Riptide” blasting through the speakers and realised I have missed my fav verse in one of my fav songs ever , it’s “there’s this movie that i think you’ll like, this guy decides to quit his job and heads to new york city“ if you were wondering .. sorry for wasting your time if you don’t care about that tho . That’s a bit dramatic huh ? ‘heavily sighing‘ … Well to my luck we have music streaming apps now, I can replay it whenever I want. But what about the things we don’t get a second chance at ? no re-dos, no another attempt or better luck next time you idiot. ? You see ummm .. the problem here is always one thing or the other, it’s either that we think we know it all , we have it figured out ,we know that this and only this is what we want blah blah bleh, OR! that we know nothing at all.

What is a Silent Beauté?
A silent beauté is a moniker that allows for interpretation. You can be literal and say I'm a deaf pageant queen, or symbolic saying that it’s a beauty that has no words or does not speak upon itself such as flowers or sunsets. Additionally, you can be figurative and say that it’s charisma that radiates from within and slowly seeps to the surface. I think it’s much simpler than that. In my opinion, I’m a beautiful person, inside and out, that just happens to be deaf/hard-of-hearing (HOH).

Looks Like Team Spirit
Today, October 20, is National Day of Writing, which encourages everyone to express themselves through sharing their thoughts to others. Since becoming a creator on Vocal back in 2018, I've written a plethora of stories that might be relatable to others, such as baseball, video games, and tidbits regarding my personal life. In the last several years, book bans have been one of the main talking points, mostly from conservative politicians and the most well-known writers have accused them of censorship. If there were books that discussed gender identity or race, chances are that you won't see them in public schools or at your local library. You can't shield children from everything, because they deserve to know about topics that they're curious of. Books about race, gender identity, and other progressive issues are needed, because it might be relatable to many people. Conservatives always claimed that these book bans are about "protecting children", but I've never bought that excuse. Protect them from whom or what exactly? Also, their other claim is to stop the indoctrination of children. Indoctrination has been a huge buzz word amongst conservative politicians. It's just a low-key term for brainwashing. Teaching children how to treat others with respect is not indoctrination. It's called being a decent human being. If only they put so much energy into passing common sense gun control laws instead of policing libraries and schools on which books children can and can't read. My point is that having an imagination is not a crime and as John F. Kennedy once said, "Libraries should be open to all---except the censor."

What I Do When Loneliness Hits in a New Country
The Side of Travel People Don’t Talk About One of the greatest privileges of being a digital nomad is waking up in a brand-new city. The sunlight looks different, the air smells new, and the day stretches wide with possibility. You sip coffee in a café you have never seen before and feel the quiet thrill of knowing that you built a life that does not fit inside borders.

Life at the Borderland: Seventy-Five Years of Becoming
I was born in 1950 in a displaced person’s refugee camp, on a frontier between the ruins of the old world and the beginnings of the new. My very first breaths were taken in that liminal place, a borderland where history itself seemed suspended between devastation and hope. For me, that idea of the border — between nations, languages, cultures, and even ways of being — has shaped much of my seventy-five years of life.

His Freckle Too, Stayed Until Morning
I did not notice it before. That small freckle just beneath his left eye, the one the light always seems to find before I do. How many times have I seen his face and never really seen it? The mark itself is nothing special, really, a speck, a shadow of pigment the sun decided to keep for itself, yet tonight it feels like a secret I have finally been allowed to see.
