2025, In So Many Words
About a year ago, I posted my first piece here on Vocal in years. In Making it Hard to Fail, I talked about my goals for the new year in response to a challenge prompt. My goal was simple: to write for 15 minutes a day. No more was required, though as I suspected (and found in executing this plan) more did often follow.

At the Beginning
There is no better way to begin than to begin. I joined VocalMedia four years ago. For whatever reason, I did no more than that. I didn’t even read, preferring to return to the nests I’d made at Medium and at Substack. As time went on, I wanted more than what I was getting from those two publishing platforms. More morphed into an author’s website at PaulineEvanosky.com and to a revamping of a website I’d had since 2001 on the Blogger platform called TalkingtoSpirit.com. The reason for the shift for that site from a BlueHost website package to the Blogger platform was money. My Novel Died in the Query Trenches, So What’s Next?
At the beginning of last year, I attempted to query a speculative novel. The story was queer and discussed themes of depression and isolation. By the time I went through my final reread, I thought for sure this would be the project that’d land me a literary agent.
