solo travel
You've got somewhere to go, but no one to go with; solo travel is the nexus of independence and opportunity.
Wanting to See the World
From a young age my parents placed a great deal of importance on traveling and exploring the world. Both of my parents have not only lived in many different countries, but they’ve traveled across the globe. By the age of 15 I had been traveling with my family to countries such as Vanuatu, Bali, and the United States.

Finding My Heart in Lisbon
Lisbon seduced me with her colourful charm, and incredible strength. She is a city that once crumbled away after an earthquake hit one November morning in 1755. Less than a year later, after the rubble had cleared, she rebuilt herself, and painted the city with colours so bright. Like Lisbon, parts of my world had crumbed, but she inspired me to wander her streets with a heart full of hope.

New Yorker vs Bali, Indonesia
First stop JFK! 10,125 miles later, and I’ve landed in Bali, Indonesia. My first impression was breathingtaking. This being my first time traveling internationally, and solo. Everything almost felt surreal in a way. I couldn't stop smiling. The air was warm, and the heat of the sun was dancing on my skin.

One Day, I Decided to Believe In My Dreams
I've always dreamed of traveling. I have always loved reading and watching movies. I was watching all of these extraordinary landscapes. I had this globe in my room and I turned it every day to know where I would go in my life.

Preparing for My First Solo Travelling Trip
The decision is made, I’m going travelling to southeast Asia and then Australia. A mammoth trip, and solo. Daunting as it may seem, I’m overcome with excitement. But the preparation for travelling is a long process, especially if you want to get it right.

The Lessons Travels Have Taught Me. Top Story - February 2019.
With a new era of millennials taking time to travel while they're young instead of going to school, starting a family or a business is a controversial topic that has sprouted. Being a young girl who has taken four years to explore the world instead of settling down right away, I have heard almost every opinion on this trending lifestyle.

How One Solo Trip Abroad Changed My Outlook on Life
Last summer, I booked flights for a group trip to Tokyo with some of my uni friends. It was the most expensive and exciting trip I'd ever booked, and I couldn't wait to explore Japan with my buds. Except nothing is ever quite that simple with me, is it? I had booked myself as 'Katie' instead of the name on my passport, which is 'Katherine.' Yup. We tried everything we could to fix it and get me to Japan, but that one little mistake was a deal breaker. Devastated is an understatement.

Post University Blues—How It Drove Me to Travel
November, 2017. I had finished university, gained a job with endless progression opportunity, had lots of friends and started dating after gaining new found confidence of which I had lost due to a messy break up. I was the girl who had everything, I was "going places," and from the outside, I looked like I had the "perfect life," yet I still found myself questioning, "Is this IT?"
