Ha Long Bay - Wonder of land built high in the sky
Ha Long Bay is located in the Northeast region of Vietnam, is a western part of the Gulf of Tonkin, including the waters of Ha Long city, Cam Pha city and part of Van Don island district. The southwest borders Cat Ba island, the west borders the mainland with a 120km long coastline, the Bay has a total area of 1553km2 including 1969 large and small islands, of which 989 islands have names and 980 islands have no names. The World Heritage Site has an area of 434km2 including 775 islands, like a triangle with three vertices: Dau Go Island (west), Ba Ham Lake (south) and Cong Tay Island (east).

Statue-Spotting in Budapest
City breaks and mother-daughter time: a classic combination. Last year, my mum and I were well overdue a weekend away, so we picked Budapest, a city neither of us had ever been before. We spent a lovely few days hitting the highlights, marvelling at the beautiful architecture and sampling all the culinary delights of Hungary. Budapest is a gorgeous, fascinating city, with an interesting history, beautiful buildings and, one of my favourite things, unconventional statues.

I say it often, to myself and my friends: wherever you go, there you are. I mean it in the way that your damage is you, your choices follow you from within, and a new place cannot heal an open wound. London, whose cobblestoned streets I traversed in my mother's red Hunter wellies, did not challenge this platitude in the two summer months I lived there. I arrived sad and left the same. But wasn't it a wondrous, different place to feel the same things, and pursue the same distractions?
