Things I Miss about America
It’s too easy to look at what’s happening in the land of my birth right now and breathe a sigh of relief that there is an ocean between me and all the vileness. Rumours of sharks swimming up freeways in the flooding after Hurricane Harvey. Actual Nazis who are not ashamed to show their faces while perpetrating violence. The grim spectre of impending nuclear winter. In my eleven years living in the UK I've seen both countries change in ways that seem so unthinkable I began to wonder whether we've slipped into a parallel dimension. Yet for all the woes Britain is currently experiencing, it seems for the time being to be the lesser of two evils.

Around Thailand
Koh Phi Phi Here are some thoughts and experiences of an island in East Thailand called Koh Phi Phi. From Bangkok, it is an overnight bus ride far to the south and then a long boat ride to the small island of Koh Phi Phi. You arrive by boat to alight at the end of the jetty to walk through the many Thais hawking for trade and looking for your guide with a sign for your place to stay.

The Hermit Cave
This past Saturday I went on a hike; not alone, but with my family (my parents and my sister Keara, who just started the 2nd grade). We drove an hour to get to the location, though we live in the middle of the largest wildlife management area in Rhode Island. Our drive found us in Connecticut, traveling through historic Thompson, a town I automatically fell in love with. The large houses with their thick columns and rolling lawns of green grass instantly captured my heart. It’s a town I hope to visit again one day and explore. It was a gorgeous day, with a light wind and a shining sun (no wonder we witnessed a wedding party walking into their reception).

Just over a year ago, I went on a trip to Rome with a few friends and can honestly say it is the most amazing city I have ever seen. Since the times of the Ancient Republic, Rome has been nicknamed the ‘Eternal City’ as it was believed that no matter what happened throughout the years, Rome would always stand - I am extremely grateful that it has.
