Learning to Love a Dachshund
Dachshundnoun: a dog of a very short-legged, long-bodied stature. Insanely stubborn with a big ego. As a child growing up, I always had large dogs. Golden Retrievers, Kelpies, Labradors. I fell in love with large dogs - and whilst I liked all dogs great and small, I remember thinking: "I want to have a Golden Retriever when I grow up". As far as I was concerned, small dogs were just yappy, annoying and quite frankly irritating. I never wanted a small dog.

The Day I Lost My Son
The day I lost my son was like any other day. I woke up at god awful in the morning and made coffee. My husband came down and we made breakfast while waiting for the kiddo to come down stairs. 10 Reasons Toddlers Rule!
Toddlerhood is my favourite stage so far. Seriously, terrible twos, threenager – why does the world take such a negative view of this vibrant time in a baby’s life? When I thought about it, I quickly realized that to be fair, most stages of childhood and adolescence are judged harshly and labelled negatively. Paulita Maxwell: The Woman, the Myth, the Legend
Paulita Maxwell was born around 1864-5 in the town of Mora, New Mexico. She was the daughter of Lucien Bonaparte Maxwell, a wealthy and respected landowner. The New Mexico border with Old Mexico was the haunt of the notorious outlaw, Henry “Billy the Kid” McCarty. Billy was popular with New Mexico’s Hispanic community and often relied upon its hospitality. He was known to be something of a ladies man and had a particular taste for latina girls. Paulita and the Kid are popularly believed to have been lovers and it has been claimed that she was pregnant with his child around the time that he was shot dead by Sheriff Pat Garrett. According to Billy the Kid historian, Frederick Nolan, Garrett’s wife heard gossip that Paulita was pregnant with Billy’s child, which allowed Garrett to track him to Fort Sumner NM, where Paulita was staying and Billy was killed (Trimble).
