What to Know About Your First Year of University
I am about to cross the finish line for my completing my first year of university. I am a Bachelor of Science student with little knowledge of what I will do with my Bachelor degree when I get out in four years. And that is perfectly OK. These four years (and maybe a couple more) are all about you. Not about what your parents want, or your peers think are cool. This is for you to find out who you really are, who you want to be, and what kind of career you want to peruse for the rest of your life. University can seem extremely scary, new school, new friends, big city, maybe even a new country. But that is OK, because change can be good. You could meet your best friends for life, maybe even fall in love and you experience many new crazy things.

I'm a Time Traveller
“I’m a time traveller.” Well, at least that is what I told the child who asked me why I was wearing medieval clothing when I was waiting for a fellow re-enactor to pick me up for an event. The child then ran off excitedly to his mother, who in turn gave me a funny look, something I have grown used to and on some levels enjoy. I am not entirely certain why I chose that to be my way of explaining myself, especially since “I’m a re-enactor” is far more plausible, but the more I think on it, the more I feel I would not change the remark. After all, as living historians, we are the closest thing there is. For instance, the person who first engaged my interest in re-enactment when I was in my mid-teens had stormed the beaches of Normandy, drank the Spanish Main dry, pillaged monasteries, and both fought for and against the Roman Empire all while onlookers cheered and applauded as they enjoyed their educational day out. Although that is not exactly going from one timeline to another, it is close enough.

Why I Had to Leave College in My Freshman Year
It is the second semester of my freshmen year of college. We have gotten snow a couple times and everyone has the flu. And I mean everyone. Including me. It's the fifth week of classes and I can honestly say I've only been to probably ten of my classes this semester. The university has posters put up all around campus saying that if you feel sick in any way to go back to your dorm.

Why I Write
Why do I write? That's funny, I often ask myself the same thing! I remember being a little girl, writing as early as I could write...and probably even before then...not that it made any sense. As I get a little bit older, I realize that the biggest reason I write now is to get it out. I have lots of made up stories that I keep saying I'm going to write a book about, but that never happens. What I do write about is my feelings in a journal. I find that a lot of the time, you feel like you have no one to talk to and no one listens even when you do talk to people. So I started writing it down again, in a little book that I keep hidden from the rest of the world. Whether it be my feelings, or a thought I had, or even something to do with my anxiety or happiness or what have you. If I'm feeling a certain way about someone or something, I have that in my mind when I write it and getting it all out there on paper, even if that person doesn't read it, is a big help! Sometimes it's good and sometimes it's bad. If I have any real strong feelings at all, or even scared, etc., I will write it down. It really does help!

A writer's toolbox is as individual as the writer it belongs to. I know. I have three of them and what is in the one I leave the house with depends on what my day holds. As writers, bloggers, authors, novelists... we are able to take our craft with us wherever we go. And with technology consistently providing us with new ways of keeping in touch with the world, our writing takes on a life of its own.

5 Signs It's Time to Quit Homeschooling
So as you may know, I signed my little girl up for public school 5 days ago. It was scary, it was heartbreaking (for me, anyway) and I felt like a big, fat, hairy, stinky, ugly failure. Just one day before I hit my absolute breaking point, I was still a total homeschool fanatic with absolutely zero thoughts of putting my kids into public school. YES, I made this decision in about 5 minutes on the very Friday night that I published my first article, typed it up, and made it official for the whole world to see.
