American Politics in the Eyes of a Filipino
One thing worth admiring about the United States of America is that it has continued existing for around 240 years, and its stayed almost the same, when countries around the globe failed and fell, including its former archenemy, the Soviet Union. Of course, the history of the United States has not been all rainbows and butterflies. It has suffered wars with other countries, and even with itself during the American Civil War, and it has gone through multiple economic recessions and depressions, the most recent being in 2008.

Just-World Hypothesis: Conservatism's Fantasyland
If people are asked to think of words they could associate with conservatism, it is certain that most of them would answer religion or free markets and we cannot blame them for that. Both a desire to uphold religious values and traditions and promote free-market policies had been a staple of conservatism, most especially American conservatism. However, asking people how conservatives perceive society and their surroundings would seem a more daunting task. Nevertheless, conservatives’ perception of the world could be summarised into three words: just-world hypothesis.

I'm a Black Democrat, Not a Fan of Trump, but I May Be Open to Voting for Him, Maybe
I've been a Democrat-leaning Independent ever since I became an American citizen in 2006. In the last three presidential elections I've voted for the Democratic Candidate for president. For the mid-term elections I've voted for candidates of all political stripes, my decision as to which candidate to vote for has been based on their specific policy positions as oppose to whatever party they belong to.

Is Real Life What We Want?
Is real life what we want? Could we cope with reality? It often appears that we—that is modern people living in developed nations—live our lives through images of other people. Some seem to want to live their lives through their children, wishing they live as their parents would liked to have done. Could any of us cope with "real life," whatever that means?

We Hold These Truths to Be Self Evident
History is an invaluable tool for if used wisely the lessons learned, chances are history won't repeat. But, too often it has been our own failure to not heed the lessons that history is supposed to teach us. Today, we find ourselves on the verge of yet another period when history is again playing out similar scenarios that have occurred more than 80 years ago. Though, not much has changed over the past 80 years. Human nature is pretty consistent. There are those who see truths in an entirely different light. Then there are those when they are faced with truths are blinded by their ignorance.

The Caging of America
Since the colonial times, black people have been treated as objects with no mind, meaning or purpose other than to serve white people. Even our Founding Fathers owned slaves. “Thomas Jefferson enslaved over 600 human beings throughout the course of his life.” Even our first President owned slaves. “Of the 317 enslaved people living at Mount Vernon in 1799, a little less than half (123 individuals) were owned by George Washington himself.”

Raising the Minimum Wage
Something people have been arguing about in recent years is the federal minimum wage, specifically if it should be raised and what it should be raised to. There are several sides to this argument. One is that it should not be raised at all because an increase of the minimum wage will lead to job loss and employers relying on machines. Another argument is that raising the federal minimum wage any amount, especially something as high as $15 an hour, will help improve people’s living conditions and move more money within our economy, this is argued by multiple people within the American Public Health Association.

Mayor Pete Is Democrat's New Hope
In 2016, Republicans had 17 candidates vying for the nomination to be president. For the 2020 election, democrats have at least that many with more expected to throw their hat in the ring. Most of these are bold-faced names like Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, and Cory Booker. There's also Beto O'Rourke who is being heralded as the next coming of Obama, which has to be insulting to the former president since he's still alive. Then there is mayor Pete Buttigieg, the first openly gay man to run for president and who might actually get to face-off against Donald Trump.

UK Troops in Yemen: A History of Violence
Our country is weak. Our citizens are disillusioned, and susceptible to promises, which can never be achieved. Our previous generations had warned us constantly that we should never let this happen again. The many angry people of these British Isles, who feel voiceless and persecuted, are crying out for an authoritarian figure, who can unite them under another crooked and murderous ideology. We are on a path to civil war and death camps, and if you think I am exaggerating then you are incredibly naive.
