Is "Latinx" A Colonizer Word?
Latino has been a word used to describe people from Latin America including the islands of Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Dominican Republic (can you believe some people forget about those islands in the Caribbean, Haiti too). Basic level Spanish lessons indicate that the language is gendered. In North American high schools it is taught that some words are female and other words are male. Cool, so what's the problem? Well, as a native Spanish speaker I never knew this until a friend asked me what gender tables were years ago. I thought she took something in the girls bathroom before coming to lunch; I even laughed at her question. She sincerely thought it was strange that I, a Puerto Rican born and raised, didn't know tables had a gender at all. In fact when I ask my father about tables and their gender he was confused as well; he didn't understand why that was the way Americans learned Spanish.

OPINION: The Real Enemies of Science
Bear with me. I get to the point, but you've gotta get the whole story first. Every morning I wake up, get my kids breakfast, grab my first of several cups of coffee, open my laptop and check my Google news feed for the day. Usually I just go right to my recommended feed, but today I decided to take a glimpse at some of the top stories for the day. What I came across was something that made my neural circuits shut down for a moment. It was like time was standing still and my brain was saying, "Cannot compute. User error. Rebooting in 3... 2..." well, you get the picture.

Analysis of the Final Presidential Debate
Now that the debates are in the books for the 2020 election year, there are certainly a few things we have learned. Some of those insights have been about either Donald Trump and Mike Pence or Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Some have been more about the debate process itself or the importance of a quality moderator with a professional method for conducting the event. More often than not, debates don’t necessarily play a huge role in swaying voter opinion or getting people out to the polls. But, this is not a typical year and certainly not a typical election.

Covid comes home to roost
Back in August I started writing about the situation surrounding Covid 19 and never finished. I wrote: The country has been creaking to life for over a month now but is still far from normal. Here in Manchester we've had new restrictions in place for a couple of weeks meaning two households aren't allowed to come together either at home or in a public building. Some venues are only just opening – theatres for example – but are doing so with all manner of precautions and restrictions in place. We ate at a restaurant for the first time the week before last – Croma our regular haunt – which was nice but again a weird experience. The staff, many of which we know, were all in masks; we weren't supposed to be with someone who wasn't in our household so we said that our guest was a lodger; and tables had been removed. We'd been to a pub a couple of weeks before that.

What it Means to Vote for Joe Biden
BRYCE ON POLITICS - What can we assume about a vote for Mr. Biden? I'm trying to figure out why people will vote for former VP Joe Biden in the November presidential election. Certainly, many will vote due to their loyalty to the Democrat party, or perhaps they believe the spin of the Main Stream Media. Some will vote for Mr. Biden simply because they despise Donald Trump. Am I getting warm?

Hi everyone, I'm Charlie...oh also, WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON???
Let me start with this - I am NOT a writer. I write how I speak and sometimes that's not always pretty (I have the language and drinking ability of a Navy sailor on leave...thank you for your service). I will do my best to self-censor my language prior to posting, but sometimes you just have to drop a FUCK, ya know? I am just an everyday 25-year old broad out here trying to survive, thrive and figure out what the fuck is going on...does anyone know (asking for a friend)? Like everyone else, I am inside WFH and maybe no one will read these, actually I will be surprised if a single person reads this (hey, Mom...no wait, Mom if you're reading this I am so sorry I said "fuck"), but maybe it helps or brings a smile to one other human and that would be pretty awesome. So here it goes...
