Coronavirus-What do we really know?
Little has changed since the plague when it comes to containment of a virus or epidemic. Test, quarantine, burn, public hysteria that correlates to violence and less than human acts and burn it, burn everything. The world has not seen an epidemic so widely scattered with such a high population effected for quite some time. It is easy to instill fear and with social media, information is fed in waves crashing in both the factual and fiction shores. So much information, that it took me an entire day to wade through just a glimpse of what is out there in order to form some kind of opinion. The information highway allow so much traffic, that it is easy to take a wrong turn and get lost.

What is Owed
I yearn to see a world enshrined in equality and peace for all. The energy builds inside me just with the dreams and hopes of what the world could one day be, of what it should be now. My heart breaks for those who may never see it become reality, but still I fight and I rejoice for those who will reap the benefits of our works now, and work we must for this cannot be or reality and we cannot allow the world to continue on this treacherous path to destruction.

Volume of Silence
The biggest lie that has been told to us is that our voices hold no power. We have been instilled with the fallacy that we individually do not have the power to affect change in the grand scheme of things and we have believed that for far too long and have been blissfully aware of the corruption, evil and greed that lives with us.

I Was Pissed At Him!!
It has been said, politics makes strange bed fellows, which reveals all the most corrupt, stiff necked, evil, sadistic people of our society. Politics even tho it carries a huge burden, it has been a many moon since it has been the igniter of high energy, and yes even the effect of some brutal battles.

You Make A Difference
I'm going to miss my view. As a privileged person, the only sacrifice I am really making is I will lose the beautiful view from my balcony. A few weeks ago, a local webzine published a fluff piece about the plan to replace the building across the street from me with a five story rental building ($2000/m rent) and commercial space on the first floor along with enclosed parking. In the article, it stated that residents can bring concerns to an aldermanic meeting two days later. Jimmy's Pizza, a neighborhood staple located in the building in question stated at said meeting that the article was the first they heard of the plan. The alderman was shocked and told the developer to go back to the drawing board in response to Jimmy's concerns. Jimmy's has great New York style pizza and beignets. The establishment employs several neighbors and delivers to residents of the area.

England Has Fallen
True to form I find myself thinking about the state of the country through a rather melodramatic lense (hence the movie inspired title). In my mind I see a country ripped apart by politice and social confusion over what is best for the country; the old fear the young for the violence they create, while the young hate the old for draining the countries economic resources and helping to destroy the environment. The rich get richer by ensuring politicians remain in power and protect their assets, while the poor are left to rot in the streets, while the rest are told to solve the problem themselves. Then there is the never ending dispute over how people should live their lives: "be proud of who you are", but "don't be too gay, straight, white, black, old, young, sexually ambiguous, prudish..." and the list goes on. Although thats a very bleak and narrow view of the overal state of the country, it isn't incorrect.

How Monster’s Inc. can save us from Extinction and Planetary Collapse
I was cirumnavigating the planet on research vessels working with scientists, community groups and projects globally, and unknowingly, I was taking a litmus test of planetary proportions. I was getting a first-hand ‘feel’ for what was happening on our planet. For anyone who has been globally sailing and exploring, you’ll understand when I say that this type of exploring, lights the imagination on fire. Something curious happens at sea. Every sailor gets to view some “Interesting” aspects of the inner workings of their mind. Most humans were raised on land, thus tend to be programmed to “land’ thinking. In other words.. a phenomenon happens when we come on deck and peer around to see, only water. The mind begins to create a safe environment for us. It sort of ‘fills in the blank’. So those distant clouds may suddenly appear to be far away mountain tops or islands. The distant glow of a long past sunset, has us certain there are surely lights of a town just over the horizon. That sound over the wind is our mother calling for us.. isn’t it?

Free Immigrant Kids and Families
My daughter's first rally was in support of our city last year and she protested for peace and against hatred for all. She had just found out about children and families being kept in Immigration Camps. She insisted on going to the rally at our City Hall. At first I was hesitant to take her because I worried that it would get too rowdy. Knowing that it was going to take part at City Hall and be attended by our mayor I felt that it would be a good first time experience for her. You see she's nine and she's very interested in the world and politics. She watches the news and loves history. She's reading children's books about children enduring difficult situations during Word War II and about Germany and Nazi's. Most of the stories talk about losing books or language and are age appropriate. Recently at school she wrote her own report about World War II while other kids in her class wrote about how to take care of your pets. Her curiosity keeps her busy writing stories. She's taken a bit after her dad who also loves history. It's very interesting to see.
