Dracula's Disco
God I love Halloween, as well as any excuse to dress up. This year, I haven't made my BIG costume yet (see the Midsommar dress from last year here), but my boyfriend and I wanted to go ahead and get creative! Stephen is a super talented photographer, and we always shoot together when either of us has a fun idea.

How I Made the Midsommar Dress. Top Story - October 2022.
For Halloween, I love to go ALL OUT. This costume was no exception. I wanted to make the Midsommar May Queen dress from the moment I saw Ari Aster's film in all of it's psychedelic, horrific glory. I'm no stranger to making costumes and playing dress-up, but I knew this would be a serious undertaking. Most of my costume skills involve hot glue, and seeing as I sewed through my finger in Home Ec class during high school, I had to call on my mom for help to get started.

“CASH Me Outside” Girl, a Creator Tune Out but Made it Big
It was slang spoken by a young teenager who appeared on a talk program and felt she was being tough. It seems to me that what she meant to say was “catch me outside.” That is to say, let us take this fight somewhere else and do it there.

Why Everything Changes In Fashion? - What Should You Know
According to the French historian Daniel Roche, fashion is always evolving. People are continually seeking new things and as a consequence, fashion evolves. The increasing velocity of social and cultural shifts is largely attributable to advances in communication and information technologies. According to research, historical events tend to amplify fashion trends. Seasonal changes drive fashion, as each season demanded different sorts of garments. The fashion industry consistently sets the pace for innovation and reinvention. There is a hypothesis called Zeitgeist Theory. It translates to "Timespirit" in German. It aids in the analysis of cultural trends across time.

Exploring the Fashion From The Characters Of Netflix's Top Hit Show
The new season of Bridgerton came after months of waiting since the announcement was made in December last year. And fans are getting excited, with Google witnessing an increase in searches for ‘Bridgerton’ between March 13th–19th. It’s no surprise though, given that the series has won the hearts of many with a viewership of 82 million households on Netflix. Based on its total watch time on the streaming platform, Bridgerton is on its way to becoming the second-most watched show.

Be the Hat!
Making Halloween costumes brings me inner peace. For ten years I worked at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and for nine of those years I participated in the Hall’s annual Halloween costume contest. There are no official statistics for winners of this contest, but if you compared my wins to a baseball player’s average, I’d be better than Ted Williams.

Sewing, Stilts and too many pairs of Scissors
As I grew up I didn’t want many toys. This was very lucky. Instead my Dad built my sister and I, a making bench. One day he came in and put a sewing machine down on the bench. He said, “Here you go Em. This little lever goes up and down, and you put the fabric in here. Then put your foot on the pedal, don’t go too fast and don’t, whatever you do, get your fingers caught” I may have been about ten years old. For the last 40 years I have been so busy with sewing that I haven’t even had time to do a proper sewing course. From the start, this was my tool.

In an Inspirational Trance
My most inspired project was repurposing a pair of jeans into a full-sleeved jean jacket. It was the summer of 2012. I found one of my brother's jeans, he had lost some weight and this particular pair of jeans were too big for him. It looked like a decent pair of jeans and I didn't have the heart to throw it out. It's neither economical nor good for the environment.
