Broken Road
I grew up in a good, Christian family. Mom and Dad didn't drink, smoke, or fight. We lived on an air force base in Labrador. I was sheltered, and loved, and I thought everyone was just like us. Nobody ever swore in our house, or yelled, or threw things at each other. My Dad didn't have a temper, and my Mom never had to lock herself in the bedroom. Those were the best days of my life.

She was a young rebellious teenager no older than 14 or 15. Auburn hair, sweet brown eyes, and covered in freckles. Her life up until that point had been marked by years of abuse, trauma, chaos. Even so, she still managed to hold on to some of her innocence, some of her naïveté.

Suicide is not an option, I have kids who need me. Having said that, I wish I were dead. Life would be so much easier if I could close my eyes and never wake up. I'm too tired to fix things. It's over, this was my last kick at the can, and once again, I have failed miserably.

My mother is a humble woman housekeeper who left home with the dream to study and get away from the farmer life. Life didn't end up the way she wanted, (I think it didn't at all)she end up getting married with my dad at the age of 19 having the first baby boy, then the second and then me the unwanted child by my dad if i can call him dad or biological dad I guess.

On Trauma & Abuse
Huge TW for abuse here I learned at a very young age the true monsters to be feared are your fellow humans, they are who lurk in the shadows and follow you home. They are the ones who understand human emotion and torment you regardless. I was like most any child at first, I loved my parents and I adored my cat. You couldn't see the trauma slipping through the lines in my book yet.

Evil among us
At the age of five, you have no idea what is happening to you, all you know is that an adult in your family is hurting you. I remember it clear as day as he would come into the bedroom where I and my siblings slept. He would start with my sister and then move on to me, I didn’t know it at the time but this man was raping us as we slept. He would do it from the backside as not to alarm my mother when taking us to any doctor appointment, not that she would have believed us if we were able to verbalize what was going on. This was the first of many men in my family that would have their way with us, but I will only speak about my experience.

The "S" Word
Sobriety. What a scary word. It’s a word I wished for almost a decade that I would never have to say yet yearned for at the same time. I suppose it means different things to different people but for me it meant not drinking. I wouldn’t consider myself an alcoholic, but I saw the signs.
